So... I been playing this game for the last 3 hours to see what it was like... I must say I enjoyed it better than WoW. I'm not planning on getting addicted or anything... Really just wanted to get a feel for it.. I'll be off and on with it though...
So is it safe to assume these were done with the same Projection Painting workflow from your how-to video? If so, do you still use the same tools (Maya + Bodypaint if I recall)?
I gotta say man, I'm glad you were able to post this stuff up!! Mind boggling stuff, i think my favourite is that white lion the fur is just... dduuuuuuuuude !!! *blows load*
I've been following your activities and blog articles since the last dominance war, and I've probably seen your tutorial vids more than 10 times already. Your work gave me the will to learn how to do oldschool models in diffuse only, probably one of my biggest inspiration this past year. I wish I can reach one day this level of quality.
Color scheme and approach of texturing is quite unique in Allods, It's colorful, pastel without getting oversaturated and kitsch, it's so much better than wow artistically wise that's it's ridiculous.
Best wishes at blizzard, You for sure have a lot of talent to bring there.
Bumping without regrets.
So I've been playing this game a little bit lately and I've got to say it's absolutely beautiful. Everything is interesting; I'm constantly taking screenshots. Fantastic job on the art for this game. It's the only thing keeping me logged on.
I found these on another forum and thought I'd share here. Text is hard to get through, but there are pretty pictures. Translated by Google... Senior Environment Artist Art Director - (this one has a couple of NSFW pictures)
Guys sorry for being late and stuff, lots of things happened lately, been really busy. As promised I'll post some more shots, probably the last, because I have a plane to US in a few hours, and I wouldnt be able to answer all your questions right now, sorry. Will be back soon.
I'll just post what I have right now with brief comments.
Also, guys from environment team promised to show some cool env assets along with concepts, stay tuned, there's alot of awesome stuff to see.
birds
dungeon bosses: Elven Architect and flaming eye
various outdoor monsters
player mounts and rhinos, one of them got 'upgraded' by undead faction
Mantisses
Treants, one of them has an owl which used to smoke a cig until someone removed it. sucks.
trolls in 2 variations, sharing skeleton and animations
Next it shots of playable races in various equipment. The system we use for customisation is close to one in WoW. Combination of baked textures and external geometry for armor parts.
Elf girls. has magical fairy wings
Hadagan people, a heavily militarized faction
Kania, generic medieval knights and peasants
Orcs, crazy brutes with habits of soccer fans
Gibberlings, race of small furry bastards, which always go as pack of three
Arisen, an undead race which extend their lifespan by replacing part of their bodies with mechanics
and example of our chargen. It's pretty simple, no complex morphing, no hundreds of haircuts, but works well for our purposes.
