Started working on this scene for my folio. I was going to do it as a non-game piece, but I think it'll be more challenging this way. The concept is by Tatsuyuki Tanaka, one of my favorite artists. For my version I think I'm going to go for a cartoony texture style similar to something like borderlands.
Here's what I have so far, modeled it while watching the world cup last night:
I'd really like some crits as I go, as I'm not too sure about a lot of this. I'm trying to keep it all under 10k tris I think, maybe even 7-8. Any tips would be appreciated.

I dunno if you're using the image as reference directly for scale and placement, but for some reason the 3d scene looks more spacious in length. Part of the appeal to the image is the cramped and cozy feel of it... maybe it's just because you haven't filled it in with all the stuff yet.
Cool concept to be working from. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed scene.
