That looks amazing. Are they still using the same source engine? Just, Wow...
Some of those puzzles, though. They looked a bit too "hardcore" for me. Perfect timing, and perfect aim needed. Don't like that idea, but Valve are really good at training players to get good at games real quick. Can't wait to play it.
loved the way the portal was using the air intake from that tube to suck the sentries up, that was awesome. but yeah I'm afraid of some of those puzzles :poly122:

The thing with portal, is that a lot of times it looks impossible when other people do it, but when you're playing it's not too hard.
This sequal is looking excellent! I love the new elements, the new dynamics of speed, repulsion and sending level dynamics through portals should open up a world of possibilities for beating the levels in alternate ways. This one looks to have much more replay value to it too because of this. Though i thoroughly enjoyed the first one, it only amounted to 6 hours of fun and a few decent internet memes so i wasn't too jazzed for the sequel, but after seeing the revolutionary additions to the sequel this is going on my radar!
I wouldn't worry about these levels being too hard, you're just watching someone play that's been through it 50000 times and they're just showing off , if a noob were beating the level i'd feel gyped cuz i'd know how to go about beating it after watching the videos.
Edit: Had some great flashbacks to hitchhiker's guide watching' this thing, "don't panic".
very impressive, I was watching this with open mouth. now this boys and girls is great game design! if this game doesnt score perfect ratings I don't know what would!
The animation work for when gladOS builds back up, in that second vid, looks incredible.
The object physics look great, too, from what I've seen.
Looks like a baked physics simulation, reversed. But yeah, looks nice.
Didn't know Source could look so damn good...this game is bloody beautiful. If we got this, boxed in with a super secret episode 3 (ala orange box) I would herniate with happiness.
I didn't think it was possible, but they've exceeded my expectations of what the second Portal would bring to the table. Also, the graphics! Portal was at best 'functional' in its graphics, and while I think it used its limited resources well enough to carry the game, this one can actually be called beautiful. While that's only a small part of what makes a Portal game, it's a very welcome change!
Wow, must say i was disapointed that the suprise was just a PS3 release announcement, but the gameplay is certainly looking really good from the clips off the videos!
Bring on 2011
looking forward to this, really love the art direction.
As much of a fan as i am of steve merchant and the old xfm broadcasts i cant help but agree with alot of the comments about the old voice having more character.
Bristol I think. Though I like the voice I thought it was far too human. At first when he was talking I was looking around for a person. I much prefer Glados' voice for having a lot of character but still being very robotic. The new one was just like listening to some bloke yapping away, which didn't quite gel right I reckon.
Nice to see regional accents though, I'm so sick of games/movies having either a cockney or posh accent for an english person, or THE scottish accent (apparently there is only one) for a scotsman.

I somewhat agree with this, but I think Valve was trying to make Glados seem more unique. Giving this robot a more Glados like voice could also make it seem like it was a part of Glados, just like the personality spheres, and less like a unique robot to help workers around the facility (When they were alive).
Also the voice actor that does Glados barely needs any computer modification to do the Glados voice, so making these other robots have the same effect would be hard to replicate with a voice modifier alone.
I like the new voice just fine, it's more subtle (but yeah, the animators voice was pretty good to).
I'm pretty sure Erik Wolpaw knew what he was talking about, he just comes across as weird compared to the usual marketing people you see in interiews, he was one of the guys who used to run Old Man Murray, funny dude.
I think the point crasong is making is that the guys who made power of paint were hired by valve and are working on portal 2, incorperating the paint mechanic from that game. Valve have their eye on the ball!

Looks so friggin awesome.
I love the look of the repulsion gel!
i hope that british robot voice isn't final, it really needs some kinda mechanical filter or something. everything else though... damn.

Really nice bit with the sentries and the blue gel, heh.
Can't wait for this, Feb 9 release date apparently.
lol I wonder if they'll make a real model kit of the sentries!

They should have got Carl in instead Definitely agree on his voice having less character than the stand-in...
The previous voice guy reminded me of Noel Fielding, which would have driven me mental after 5 minutes.
Really? I found it very flat and monotone.
It is impossible not to laugh when you hear it!

When I saw that powered goo in the gameplay vids, I recognised it immediately.

but I think their application is unique enough Ups the puzzle difficulty considerably though,by the looks of things.
looks very sweet indeed.
