My three designs are a lightbulb style bat called the Flash-Bonk, a scattergun replacement called the Dynamo, and a pistol replacement i haven't quite nailed down yet, im wavering between a magnet pistol that could be used to suck up ammo and health pickups from range, or a paintball pistol that could mark sillhoettes on enemy players, i think the magnet pistol is more in theme, as there's a general electrical vibe going on here. But i found a beautifully shaped paintball pistol on the interflub.
The Flash-Bonk - A melee replacement with the possibility for "flash-bang" like effects.
The second Design is a scattergun replacement made from electrical components, I was thinking instead of using Ammo it could create charge by holding right click.I drew these designs a while back (pre-scout update) and im not sure how strong the sillhoette is anymore, though i like the handle it is very "medic" ish, I will probably keep the batteries on top the Nozzle and foregrip but redesign the back end of the gun.
This was the paintball Pistol i mentioned earlier
Here is how far i am with the project at the moment. Ive pretty much finished the modelling stage of the Flash-Bonk, and have started blocking out the Dynamo. I'd love some feedback on the following areas.
1: Should the shape of the plugs on the handle be changed to be more exagerated and cartoony?
2: A few of my friends have said theyre not quite sure whats going on with the handle? would you agree, i like the top half, but the bottom half of the padding could be improved.
3: Should i chamfer the pink bolts around the base of the bulb?
4: Should i make the nipple on the end of the bulb more pronounced?
5: Should i add crocodile clips to the cables?
The flashbonk is sat on a comfortable 7k Tris
If anyone can help with the following issues or provide links to tutorials that would be appreciated
1: Is there anything important i Need to know for making see-thru materials
2: How would i go about making animated textures on a seethru plane for the electrical sparks.
Still need to do some additions to the handgrip, attempted that a few times but hasn't came out quite right, unsure about the attachment rings, might replace them with a rail similair to the one in the picture.
Travis Touchdown commands you to turn your lightbulb into a beam saber, and make a No More Heroes themed pack. Even if Valve would never accept it for copyright reasons.
Don't forget to include the sword charge animation as the taunt =P

It looks a little too perfectly squared off the way it is to me.

The padding on the handle is strange. If you're going with experimental weapons maybe have the handle be metallic without padding - maybe electrical tape but not padding.
3: Should i chamfer the pink bolts around the base of the bulb?
Sure, might save some resources.
4: Should i make the nipple on the end of the bulb more pronounced?
I would. Hardly noticed it before the question.
5: Should i add crocodile clips to the cables?
Not really necessary but do it if you have time.

Maybe have the glass be bulletproof glass with some bullet impacts cracks on it to show it is very durable glass. Like these refs-
Trying to be more helpful now... many paintball guns have a CO2 tank. I realize that the pistols usually just have a little one inside the frame, but it might help make things more interesting if you added one to the base of the grip. Also, I share the confusion over the lightbulb's grip- I'm not really sure what you're going for. Are those colors what you intend the final version to look like, or are they just for contrast?
I think a handle that was mummified in black electrical tape would be the way to go.
Thematic concern- how exactly is a paintball gun an "experimental weapon"? It's pretty tried and true, frankly.

I think you're thinking too much inside the box. For example, like Alexander said, he could add metal support. Or something even more crazy.
Already beam katana mods out there man.
