I'm new here and thought I'd jump right in at the deep end, despite my severe amateur level, and enter this contest.

My theme is Cryptozoology Hunter for the Demoman. The idea being, after eventually finishing off the Loch Ness Monster he went in search of other "mythic" beings.

Please excuse the shoddy concept art.



Going to start modelling today, probably the foot. Let me know what you think.

This has some potential. I really don't think I can comment much until I see a rough model or some more detailed concept art.

i'd have the loch ness launcher just be a singular "drape" of the skinned creature, hanging over the barrel

Right, so here's the Big Foot coming along with some placeholder textures just so I can see what it might look like.



I didn't think hair and fur would work with TF2 and I'm not that great with it anyway, so I'm trying out a separate plane and fraying out the edges to try and add a hairy coat.

I've also got a few more details to add in, like the toenails and I was thinking about adding a grip to the bone. Speaking of the bone, I'm not a hundred percent happy with it, just not entirely sure what I could do to make it look better, besides adding extra geometry.

And as for a drape on the launcher, I may do it. The Launcher, although ironically my first idea, is probably the least solid of my concepts, so it's definitely up to change. I do like the mouth of Nessie around the barrel though.
