I don't think that will look quite right, currently the bow has enough going on with it, I don't really want to be adding more stuff to it.
Your call. I just thought it needed something interesting to differentiate it aesthetically from the huntsman as far as color scheme, and the metal in the middle was a nice departure but seemed almost accidental in how little of it there is. But that is my personal taste, of course.
Couldn't really get the spoon head right so now it looks like a pan on the end of a very exotic carved handle, still kinda fits in with the sniper though to me.

i said this once and i will say it again... KNIFEY SPOONY FTW
As stupid as this sounds guys, I can't get the spoon to look right.
I'm either gonna have to go with something I'm not keen on or make a whip or something.
It would me nice, but it'd require new gameplay mechanics for sure at its current length and if you shortened it up to the size of standard melee weapons then it would just come off as a bit of rope.
I'd say go ahead and make one, then send it into the Contribute page.

Well here is the funny thing, with the current jigglebones, when you attack it doesn't go over the current range of normal melee items, more of a delayed attack as its swipes.
that works really well, i do like your jiggle bones you get them done smoothly. Proboly a bit limp for a whip still.
I think thats just down to having 8 jigglebones all working, I've removed a few and its gone a bit more stiff but I don't want it to loose too much flex otherwise it will look like some bendy stick.
yeah, i guess its just a aspect of playing around with it. I do think it would look better as a dead snake maybe. there is that bit in Crocodile Dundee he kills the snake charmers snake just saying :B
Well between the two, I know I can personally do the whip.
The snake would be a challenge as I'm not the best of people to make textures as you may have noticed.
Are you sure it would have been too obtrusive, even if you shrunk it down to kukri length?
Maybe the answer would be rather than have it shrink down to Kukri length but rather to have it be wrapped up kind of like Indiana Jones style.
And have the attack animation instantly switch out the rolled up whip with the jiggle bone one and viola! Whipping good attack sequence that doesn't stick out when idle.

Yeah the huge problem with it was how it looked in view, it just didn't work well at all as it took too much of the screen and looked really unnatural.
I mean I might be able to redo it later with v_ and w_ models because then I can have much more flexibility but any model added now will be c_ so you have to compensate really.
Lookin good reag, may i suggest an obsidian texture for the blade of the kukiri.
Obsidian was a common material used for blades, arrow heads, and other tools.
Obsidian looks like
The black shiny blade would also help distinguish itself from the other 2.
Obsidian/Volcanic glass does come in a bunch of different colours including blue and red. I'm not sure how well it'd really work but it might be something to check out at least.

I'm planning to stick with either a really dark gray or purple black, things gonna have really light envmaps too so it can be slightly reflective, currently doing the AO's on the thing though, trying a few times to get the best result.
Also thinking calling the machete the obsidian onerous.
obsidian due to the material and onerous due to the meaning.

Ugha... look at the first page god damn it.
Oh wait, sorry I'm doing brain dead tonight, I thought they said Do the ants as in the idea.

You might be able to do it just with the texture.

You can do it!
I love the ant jar idea though.
ITS VERY TEMPTING.

That was the other idea. However been playing with bone weights and surprisingly it produced this with the attack.
(Camstudio raped the quality for no reason).

BUT i do love the idea of a whip too.

You don't even want to see 1st person (you can't see, end of).
Back to spoon I guess or a flint machete/knife.
*I can't figure out how to get the bone weights right for the bow so the shaft wont flex.
Though having said that I'm coming up blank as to what combines a longbow and ants?
Maybe something to do with the rainforest, I don't know.
bow+ants+spoon=???
lunchtime for the sniper?
Very very early WIP shot:
Kinda thinking I'm having a resource use theme going here somewhat now.

Kinda hard if it goes any darker, it doesn't really fit in with tf2's art style.
