Hi guys,

This is my first post here. Finally signed up after years of lurking to give it a shot at the contest.
/small introduction

I want to create a pack for the Pyro as it is my favorite class. I don't know if someone already had the idea, if so too bad then I'll just make it for the heck of it.

I'm going to make a fly based addition for the Pyro. Yes, the insect. I already made a small start with it, which you can see below.

Hope I will make it in time. I will go back to photoshop now ;)

Made a few improvements to the mask. I'm not sure about which mask though. With or without the teeth. I can't think of stuff other than the teeth and without seems like there is missing something. also not too happy about the eyes. Fly eyes are all these small facets. But to make that all is really not suitable in the TF2 style. And I don't like them flat like this. Maybe I still have to make a grid of some sort.

Also made the beginning of a gun, as can be seen in the shots. It is some sort of venom-gun, squishy and organic. I don't like this design though. I'm more thinking like some sort of bag-pipe sort of thing where the pyro has to squeeze it with his arm to get the volatile vemonous stuff to ooze out. Maybe some sort of insect.

As for a melee item, I was thinking about an insect leg. Although I'm not to sure about it, sounds kind of lame and I don't have a clear vision of it yet. Will probably make some sketches tomorrow.

A weapon carved out of an insects exo-skeleton?

    this doesn't seem right
all of the other items whilst being gimicky dont delve into that sort of fantasy zone of aliens and monsters

Hmmm, personally I don't see that big a difference between what I do and what everybody else is making. The hat is still an extension of the head. And while the weapon, not final ;), is not a ballistics based gun, I don't think it is super alien. In theory it be just a weapon model replacement I think. But I'm still working that one out. So it could be completly different.

@Michailov: I was indeed thinking about that name. :) I think it is rather suiting.

would you not consider making it less organic but still insect based?

like a crafted steel insect weapon

You can try change your theme to... i don't know, something like "movies parody".

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091064/

and make the items less "seriou buisiness", more funniest to see.

Yes I think that could also be possible. For instance making the eyes out of a collander.
And the snout from a salt shaker or something (I have a very specific kind in mind but can't seem to find it).

I guess that would also be fun to make. Like he made himself a fly costume from scraps.
