I am going to be making some new weapons for engineer. As he is the only class so far who has yet to receive any weapon upgrades other than to his dispenser and teleporter, it seemed like the right choice
My ideas are thus:
A replacement for the shotgun that looks similar to a paintball gun.
A replacement for the pistol that is basically an old-timey 3 barreled pistol from the 1800's (think pepperbox style).
A replacement for the wrench. For this I intend to model a classic red pipe wrench.

Ultimately though, due to time constraints, I don't think I'm going to have enough time to finish these models and textures before the deadline for this contest anyway... hopefully I can flush out some better ideas for TF2 and submit them to valve at a later time and who knows! I realized after thinking about my ideas for a while that I was approaching this contest from entirely the wrong angle. I was thinking of new weapon concepts from a technical or functional standpoint, rather than new weapon themes from...well... a theme standpoint. I've seen a lot of creative weapon themes in the forum here: vikings, chefs, sailors, etc. If I can come up with a good theme to base 3 engineer weapons (or 2 weapons and a hat) on, then I'll be in much better condition.
Well, don't forget that even if you can't finish in time for the contest, you can always submit what you have to the Contribute! system, so it's at least worth making the effort.
