Well I am moving to Austin in the next few weeks to start a new job and I was curious if anyone knew of any good apartments worth checking out when I get there, preferably around the Ranch Road 620 N area... or even closer to town.
Did you get a job at Edge, Vigil or Junction Point by any chance?
I lived in an apartment complex off of 620 for a year. The major negative is that 620 gets pretty crowded during rush hours (like most roads in Austin), so making a left onto the road without a light is hairy.
The plus is that most of the complexes in that area are fairly newish, and you can get a nice 1 bedroom easily with the salary you'll probably be making. I don't think there's a lot that distinguishes one for another.
It is a bit of a drive from that area to downtown, though, so if you want to party it up, I'd recommend looking somewhere closer to that area.
Was that you last week wearing a tie for the interview and wearing glasses? fullofclovers on PC sits next to me and told me 'Progg' has been messeging me and told me you have an interview for a position at vigil. Haha, small world.
I live 2.2 miles from work I do have to tell ya it might be hard to find 1 bedroom this time of the year because of the summer but type in 'Rent.com' the zipcode 78726 and you should get most of the names on 620. I can ask my leasing office tomorrow and see if they still have that apartment open.
I will keep you updated!
EDIT: when you live on 620 the only time I ever see traffic is on Sunday morning for the catholic church next to me, the Police tries to make it easier for them to enter and more "organized." During the week though especially if you are going to work from N FM 620 you shouldn't have a problem. On the other hand if you are coming from downtown...then it can hit up to an hour and a half drive in traffic!
No I didn't wear a tie lol.. I was there on Wednesday of last week. I had jeans and a button down on. I don't remember seeing you.. do you sit in the environment section with Gabe and the other guys?
Okay it was another guy from Raven Soft then, my bad. No we plan on moving closer to Gabe and his team mates hopefully today
That is right though, I remember they told me they are having lunch with 2 employees 2 days in a row. Anyways, congrats man! Welcome to the team /cheers
Trying to budget finances for the move. Does anyone that lived in the Austin area, specifically out near canyon creek or the 620 area have a rough estimate on their monthly utility costs in a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment. Thanks
I don't know if you've found a place yet or not- but fullofclovers and I both found ways to live in Austin pretty easily through craigslist, if you haven't' checked that out yet. I found a nice sublease at the parkside at lake creek and it's been fantastic so far living there.
