In your concept, you've just used the same nozzle that the original flamethrower has - so I'm gonna assume what you just posted was another in progress model instead of a final. That said, I think you could do something really good with the nozzle - something more airplaney. But as far as in progress shots go, it's lookin good.

Handle and nozzle need some work :P a few posts back I posted an afterburner nozzle, which i'm planning on using.
First person still doesn't look very different to the original flamethrower. however the propane tank strapped in view will be team coloured, which should help.
Wow this is awesome, I think the flamethrower looks fine. IMO, if it had anymore airplane parts it would look too much like an airplane and not enough like a flamethrower, but w/e
maybe try to make a airplane company at least using the world blast what with back blast i mean that thing looks like it would have a nasty back blast.
I didn't leave enough space in the uv to get a decent looking logo in, and bright team colours like current airliners don't fit nicely in the tf universe, so I'm going to leave it as is for now.
Found a few weird errors in the model, so I need to go back and fix them, but I'm seeing the light.
Specular map to come.
spec and transparency seem to be working. need to whip up blue texture and a few small issues with spec and weights, but I'm happy to call it pretty much finished.
Tried compiling in first person today, but it all ended up rotated 90 degrees, and the weights on the hands were messed up too. I'm not going to bother with it for now, and move on to my third item.
playing with the axe, 2 part blade made from propeller tips, held together with nails and rope/elastic, test compile to check clipping and make sure the silhouette is readable.
Bend needs to be further along, and the main pipe needs to be thicker, so I'm going to put a grip or something over it.
Back ends of the propeller cut-offs will be splintered, roughly in a fire axe shape.
Not sure most people will get what the ax replacement is made of.
I imagine it'll be more recognizable when textured with the edges of the propellers highlighted perhaps? Maybe you could make the top end have one of those pointy things in the middle of propellers:
Not sure most people will get what the ax replacement is made of.
Hopefully the texture will help, but it's an issue I'm finding hard to resolve. This was the idea which looked most like an axe, and made sense in the way it was attached.

The propane tank on the left hand side with the gauge attached.
Will look Something like:

"FLAMING DEATH FROM ABOVE!"
I so want to see flying pyros XD
Better yet, I want to see a movie with the pyro shooting the flamethrower, flying through the air with him yelling his "HELP ME!" line
softimage crash ate my Uv's so starting again.
handles done at least
Phew. I need more practice at UV unwrapping.
I can't remember what anything is :S
Need to swap a few things over, to make the first person look less like ass, and then I'll texture tomorrow.
2am, watching sparkwire at work:
http://www.livestream.com/sparkwire
then bed.
atm turbine and funnel colours look off, but let me know your thoughts.
base colours only.
Is a white turbine the color you're going with? Maybe more silver? Maybe with a TF2 style airline logo?
something along the lines of
but more interesting
did a little swapping since then, but yeah.
Diffuse is currently
Today gonna get some detailing in, brush strokes and highlights etc
Perhaps you could have TF stand for something else plane-related, even.

I was a little disappointed, I'll admit. but at least it keeps it less visually noisy.

Any thoughts?
Minor clipping issues aside, I'm happy with it so far, need to fix clipping during taunt as much as possible with the elbow, mainly.
To do: splinter up the back of the axe blades, tidy up some edges etc.
colour wise I was thinking Black/dark green with a white/yellow tip, or white with team coloured tips. Pole is metal, grip is rubbery.
it looks alot diferent to the other items and has it's old unique feel that'd acompany the rest of your pack!
good luck!

The texture really helped :P
Dark green and yellow really help identify it.
Texture is only base colours at the moment, and I'm not happy with the colours of the pipe section yet, just thought I would show you what's happening
You and your logos!
How this? It's a modification of the tf industries logo, torn up a little
I was thinking along similar lines, I'll have a play around tomorrow. Minor edits to make all around, and it's good to be nearly finished!
some quick screen grabs before bed:
FPSB: Axident
I'm sure it's fine, there are plenty of things that have been on fpsb that have been added to the game.
