Howdy howdy hi,
My theme is
battle snipers; for those snipers who don't mind getting a bit close and personal. Apologies in advance for the Milkshape screenshots, I don't have anything that can do fancy renders installed just yet. I also haven't compiled anything for Source for years, so that'll be fun trying to relearn that all over again.
Anywayzzzzz...
First item is the
Aussie Battler, a submachinegun based on the Owen gun. I started this before I saw Snex's version, honest.
At the moment it uses some recycled Valve textures... I'm having some trouble with the sights; they come out either too "delicate" looking compared to the rest of the gun, or too chunky and overwhelming. Should I keep trying, or do you think it looks okay without any sights at all?
My second item I started modelling today, and it bends the rules a bit in that it
could work as a straight rifle replacement, but ideally it would have unique stats... Presenting the
Roo-bar.
As you can see, it's a rifle without a scope (but still with a sniper dot!). I'm thinking it might go something like this;
+50% damage
No zoom when charging a shot
No critical hit on headshot
No random critical hits
But I guess that's a discussion for another time and place.
For the third item... well, I'm not quite sure yet. One idea I had was a cricket bat handle with a cane knife blade, or perhaps a weapon made purely out of a cricket bat (with a carved blade or something?). I'd call it
The Don. But I'm not sure how good that would look. A complete cricket bat would be too unwieldy as a single-handed weapon, and has, of course, been done.

It adds some visual interest to an otherwise fairly bland model, and emphasises that this probably isn't the most accurate gun in the game...
Thoughts?
Battler with "realistic" sights and a shorter butt (which should show more detail in the V model, and perhaps will result in less clipping of the stock). What's better, these, the ring, or no sights? Or something else?
Edit: I think I'll go with the ring sight and the shortened butt.
As for the third item, yep, could do a hat... gotta think of what fits the theme though...
I would like that machine gun if the texture was much lighter, but at the moment it seems too dark and serious to fit in with tf2
This is it at 50% brightness but I tinted the handles a bit.
It's mostly just milkshape making it dark. The textures are matched to the default SMG.
Karkasmolenklok, how do you think the rifle could be improved? I'm not looking to make it too zany, but any ideas gratefully recieved.
