TF2 - Polypack - Miltton

Hi,

This "challenge" sounds so nice that I have take part. I has been nice to see what other have done so far, I am not sure do I dare try anything. However I am quite out of ideas, but somehow I decided to take Pyro's class. I think theme is something like "homemade/McGyver". That bases on my idea of flamethrower, which uses hairspary cans and zippo to work. I haven't thought about other items yet.

I like the inclusion of the zippo and the cans. I think more could be done to differentiate the rest of it from the regular flamethrower though (for instance, it still has the gas station handle, the same exact bends in the pipe for the ignition source and so forth)

While I agree that it's Very similar bends to the original, I think the general shape of the FF needs to be the same.

That said, why not tape the lighter on the side of the nozzle, and lose the ignition pipe? There seems no reason to stick a pipe in a lighter.

Lose the pipe, add some tape to make it look more thrown-together.

ehhh.... good it looks too much like the flamethrower ( same with the backburner, thats always been my pet peeve ) maby change it up a bit like:


and add some team coloring and you'll be good!

Thanks for the replies. You have very good points. I definately have to make some changes before I start to do details. It looks a lot like orginal flamethrower in TF2, but I feel a bit difficult to keep the TF2's style in it. Let's see what I figure out.

Here's some changes I did: I changes the gas station handle to motocross one, and the pipe-thing to exhaust pipe (which looks a bit odd/boring).

You can put a muffler on the exhaust pipe area to make it more interesting.

Thanks Khthon, the muffler was exactly what the flamethrower needed. I did some minor changes and I think this will be a base of the gun. There's still a lot of tris avaible for rounding and detailing, if I manage to figure out anything.

You could beef up the muffler size.

The only other thing is I feel like the center of the flamethrower between the canisters and the handle is a bit bare. You could add extra canisters strapped on or something.

It's looking better, but the thing the zippo is tied to still bugs me.

That's right, the muffler could be a bit bigger. And between cans and handle should be added something. The wires in that area are also floating stupidly in air.

The thing-the-zippo-is-tied-to is wierd, but it's a bit difficult to set zippo near the pipe. I also like the "shape" the "ignition pipe" gives. And in my opinion it would be ugly if the zippo would be tied to muffler.

Argh, designing is not my cup of tea at all.
