I'm a beginner modeler and I'm throwing my hat in the ring as I figure this contest will be good practice. I will be making weapons for the spy, and the theme will be: Renaissance Man, seeing as how the spy speaks Italian, and French, he seems generally European and well suited for a European renaissance pack.

Hat:The Officers Fashion

A hat worn by French military officers in medieval times.
Weapon 1: Misericorde, Will replace the knife

From Wikipedia: A misericorde was a long, narrow knife, used in medieval times to deliver the death stroke to a seriously wounded knight.
Weapon 2: A French 17th century pistol

Scrapping the crossbow due to the fact that its an awful idea, instead going with this 17th century renaissance-era french pistol

This looks like a fun theme. I'd like to see how these ideas turn out.

A thought about the blackpowder pistol though, since the spy's pistol is 6-shot revolver you may want to make a heavily modified blackpowder pistol that has multiple rounds. It'd fit well with TF2's theme of homebrewed weaponry as well.

Any ideas as to how I could take this weapon and make it like this, while heavily modifying it would be appreciated

Well I'd suggest keeping whatever mechanism you're basing it off of visible otherwise it'd just be a weird woodstocked pistol instead of a wheelock. Maybe some sort of small drum magazine that attaches somewhere near the breech with a crazy autococking mechanism for the dog/striker/whatever.

And it definitely has to have sweet engravings.

You don't have to worry too much about the mechanics in TF2, as long as it looks cool and doesn't make you too confused.
