So this is what I've got so far, still need to have a think about the third item. Not sure if i will go with the shotgun/flare gun or one of the flamethrowers.
Haven't had a great deal of time since posting my last image. Had some thoughts about the third item i want to do. Thinking I'll go with one of the flame throwers and do a bit of a barbecue spit roast look to it.
Started doing a rough model of the chefs hats, just trying to find the right shape a silhouette it.
For the Pyro's chef hat I think the safest thing to do for it is to add jigglebones. Don't scrap the chef hat idea, make a better one than all the rest!
Waffle exe should heat and do more damage over time you keep in your hands, without changing weapons. That would be awesome Love the concept.
Wow, that IS a great idea. Maybe it would even inspire Valve enough to choose this pack if it was a flip up between this and something else.
Don't forget the best thing: BARBECUE.:thumbup:
How about an antique stove/grill/oven inspired flamethrower (maybe even with a grate on top of the tube with hamburgers and hotdogs being BBQ'd from the heat)!?
The flamethrower would have a small antique stove 'furnace' and grill grates strapped on top of the stove pipe-styled flamethrower pipe where food might be grilled. Awesome doodads like stove pipes with steeple tops could be added for the silhouette!
The aesthetic would be antique and exaggerated stoves, ovens and grills. I think it would be amazing.:poly142:
I'd go for one slightly different though, just to give it distinct flavor. There's a bunch of possible ones. I'd tend to look for ones like the ones on smokers
Wow, wasnยt expecting so many comments. Some really helpful stuff in here now, havenยt got anything down on paper but Iยve got some new ideas floating around in my head as to what I want the flame thrower to look like now. Really like that third image down you posted Khthon got a nice shape to it, something I can see fitting into the flame thrower. Iยll probably spend a bit more time on the weekend nutting out a few concepts for the flame thrower and looking at the importing process on tf2 items just to see if there are any limitations I should be aware of. Iยll try to get a video up soon of the progress of the chefs hat, itยs going to be jiggle alright.
Wow. I just have to say, I registered for this forum just to post on this idea. I think the Waffle Axe is in the top three entries I've seen to date. Well done. I hope the model looks great when finished! The idea of the heat up is killer, too. The overall package as a chef is good, but even if that doesn't fit in the tf2 world or doesn't get chosen I still think Valve should keep an eye on that axe.
Its only taken me two days of running through tutorials and banging my head on the desk, but I've finally managed to get the hat into tf2 with the texture and some of that good old jiggle bone action. Its still pretty rough on the rigging and the texture is just a AO map, but i just wanted to see what the process was on getting models into tf2 so i can test the models out in game.
Haven't had a great deal of time to upload anything to this post this week. So currently I've started modeling the waffle axe and I'm going to try and get that in game this weekend. Need to check that it looks good from the FPS view. I've done a bit more to the chefs hat, its about 80% done. Having a few issues figuring out how to get the team colour swapping of materials working. Finally I've got a rough idea down of the flame thrower down.
Got a bit more done, got a model for the waffle axe done, need to work on the binding on it. Its currently got a few weird angles on it and the texture is a bit crap.
I've made some changes to the concept for the flame thrower. Think I'm going to have a few late nights this week . Don't think I'm going to have time to get all the items in the engine, the source importing process is a nightmare!!!
It would be nice if this hat was a little bit burned in a corner, or in a spot from the down side.
And maybe you shoud add this small flames to the nosel of your flamethrower to develop this oven theme. Sry for mistakes

The chef's hat maybe isn't saggy enough at the back?
Thanks
I would have just settled for a frying pan. good work.
Anyway yea, waffle ax ftew! Love it.
Waffle Axe is pure win.

Cool stuff.

I do like that it appears to be a stove.
the sausage at the end is awe4some
I also like the sausage. Maybe right clicking could heal people with a delicious barbecued wiener.
