I will try to create some new equipments for the spy.
My first idea is to create a new gun for him : a small handgun with a biiig silencer.
My aim is to preserve the functionality of the spy's handgun with a fresh new look.
Im working the shape of my gun's spy. Im hesitating between a gun with a square shape (a "basic" pistol, like for the scout) or to keep a revolver shape.
What Im try to do is to have a huge contrast between the gun and the silencer; thats the reason why I try to have a very small gun.
Yep, thats true. :§
Thks for your comment, I will try to reduce the size of the silencer.
I did new researchs (not good for me ;( I think that the handle is weird; I continue to search another shapes ) :
At first I thought you were trying to create a Pepperbox Pistol, judging by the silhouettes! Although those would probably be more in Engineer's territory.
I'm personally liking 1 and 3, although I do like the curved handle from 2...
hate to throw a monkey wrench in the whole "Silenced Revolver" idea, but putting a silencer on a revolver does near nothing to silence it let alone reduce the noise level emitted.
To quote a weapon's forum:
"no, not on an open revolver, you would need some thing around the flash to stop the noise.
The flash is that non gun area between the cylinder and the barrel."
"As a rule, no, you can't silence a revolver, due to the barrel-cylinder gap which allows hot gases (and noise) to escape during discharge."
It's not so important whether you can silence a revolver or not, chances are that Valve wouldn't want a fully muffled pistol for the Spy anyway.
It would probably be something like your standard Hollywood Silencer *Pcheoo* Sound with the same or slightly less volume than the standard sound has, since the model is supposed to be a replacement for a weapon where the basic functionality should stay the same. Having a too silent pistol would have an impact on that, imo.
There could even be some added humour coming from having a pistol with the Worlds Loudest Silencer attached .
Sigh, despite the fact that it IS possible to silence a revolver it doesn't actually matter whether it is or not. Style over substance, especially when it comes to a game like TF2.
Hollywood has been doing it for years, if you stick a silencer on a revolver then make it sound like the traditional silenced gun (not that that sound is any more realistic than the silenced revolver) then the audience/player will accept it as reality. If you stop and think about many things in the game you will find they are illogical, but it's not like they are so incongruous that they distract you from enjoying the game.
So go ahead with your designs, they look good and that's all that really matters.
I don't think it would hurt to just make the pistol a small semiautomatic, something which can actually be silenced in real life. Why are you resistant to give the spy a pistol that isn't a revolver?

Well it's all up to DamDam what he does in the end, but if he prefers the look of a revolver over an automatic there's absolutly no need to change that just because silencable revolvers are a rarity.
Yep its a good question.
Personaly, I quickly removed the idea to have a small automatic pistols (for the spy) from my head.
In the tf2 universe, they belong to the engineer and scout imho. I think also that this gun must be a revolver, because I need to keep a very low rate of fire/numbers of bullets.
We all remember the picture of a small automatic pistol with a silencer, like in a james bond movie. Honestly I prefer to have an automatic gun with a silencer, but to fit with the tf2 world I think the spy should have a revolver.
As you can see here: http://www.google.fr/images?q=revolver+silencer&um=1&hl=fr&tbs=isch:1&sa=N&start=0&ndsp=20
revolvers with silencers are not a joke.
It's just a way for me to make a funny variation of the primary weapon of the spy.
I don't think you should feel like you need to stick to a revolver just because it's the default spy gun. There are plenty of six-shot semiautomatic pistols like the ones in your concept art. Yes, technically it's possible to silence a revolver, like technically it's possible to silence a tank (sort of), but just the fact that we're discussing it means that it draws undue attention. This is a contest, and the more plausible your weapons seem the better chance you have of winning.
I'm doing this contest for fun, but yes, you are right : its useful to know the opinion of others people, I didn't realized that was so "astonishing".
Thks for that.
Thks guys.
I made new attempts for the handle, and reworked some new shapes from the B5 B11 and B12.
Adding another vote to 4 with 2's grip. Absolutely love the design of the barrel/silencer hybrid and the triangular section rounds it off perfectly. Hope you stick with this design and we get to see a model soon.

After sleeping on it, I'd actually say my favorites would be 3 and 4.
Agreed. These are some really good concepts.
I took a break with the gun to do a first test for a new sapper.
base 3D + paint over
The main idea is to re-use the global scale of the old sapper, and to do a new design based on curve's shape.

Keep this in mind.
Good, you found a video of a sealed revolver; Continue on.

Just copy and paste that into your address bar.
Edit: Am I missing something here? Is it not a revolver nonetheless?
Its a specially sealed revolver

Ooooh, "The Big Bang"
Mann Co, We make your guns louder to make them hurt more.
Scout + Engi.
We don't need 3 pistol classes, honestly.
