I don't have much experience modelling, so I've no delusions of winning this contest, but I thought it would be fun to try something anyway.
Sniper's Long Haul
Stuff falls apart. It happens. Sometimes, that stuff is vital to your survival. Those engineering typesare pretty good at fixing it, as long as there's a healthy supply of metal. But what if there isn't? Like, for example, in the middle of the Australian Outback, 1000 kilometres from any civilization? You fix it up with whatever you findlying around. It doesn't have to look pretty if it still gets the job done. On one of Sniper's longer jobs, most of his stuff broke. All of it, actually, and he had to fix it then and there. When he got back, he bought brand new weapons and packed up the old stuff. Well, now he's dusted off three old favourites and spruced them up, ready for the battlefield once again!Introducing three brand-new old items, straight from the bottom of the scrap heap! Poorly maintained and horribly repaired, these items are sure to confuse your enemies long enough to tear them a new one!The Outback Carbine!Made from a salvaged rifle, the Outback Carbine might be a little heavy, and the scope a little smaller than the original, but that doesn't mean you can't put a decent hole in anyone stupid enough to get in your sights. The Cuppa! This thermos has seen Sniper through many long nights, and has certainly seen better days. Great for perking you up after a long night of keeping a sharp eye out, and your mates will love it when you douse their flames with it!The Bundy!Sometimes a machete just won't cut it. Sometimes, you need something bigger, meaner and pointier. Straight from NorthQueensland, the Bundy will strike fear into any sneaky Frenchman who crosses your path!"

1. Moari are from New Zealand, the sniper's an Auzzie...
2. Waka are Moari canoes/boats...
3. You got one right! Moko are a tribal face tattoo.
Soz about this but, well im a kiwi (form New Zealand) and well we have a friendly but strong rivalry with the Auzzies =P
I'm Aussie, by the way :P
Three new weapons:
Outback Carbine - replaces the Sniper Rifle
Swagman's Canteen - replaces Jarate
Caneknife - replaces Kukri
Still using the Sniper's weapons as a base, I've changed my theme to "Bush Mechanic", repairing things with whatever you have on hand. The bayonet on the rifle is attached by wire, the handle of the cane knife is taped together and the canteen's cover is covered in patches, for example.
Celebrate Australia's proud military history with the Outback Carbine! You won't miss your old scope after gutting a few bogans with the razor sharp bayonet!
Is the machete too short and not pointy enough for you? The Caneknife's weight and length makes it ideal for taking out those sneaky spies in a single hit. You can't swing it too fast, though, so make it count!
Jars of urine are all well and good, but true outback types pack a hearty lunch! Enter the Swagman's Canteen, full of a thick soup made from a 'borrowed' sheep! Drink it when you're feeling a bit low, or throw it to put out a fire. Your mates will thank you for it!

Thoughts? Questions? Tips?
Cane knife so far. Wanted to get the shape down before I started putting any details in. The blade itself will be heavily chipped, and where the handle and blade meet will be wrapped in tape.
Any thoughts or critiques before I start putting in the details?
Perhaps put a hole through the blade for hanging or some such to make that big expanse of flat metal a little more interesting.
and for extra eye candy, rinkles on the nylon
To Jackablade: thanks for the hole idea, I think it works well.
To MacD11: I'm not sure if it's possible to make it stay on his leg. If it is, it's beyond my capabilities :P
The beige part near where the blade meets the handle is a wrap of some kind, probably bandages. It'll be more obvious when it's textured :P. Also, I was thinking of winding some wire around the handle, above the spot where his hand grips it, or maybe more tape on the actual spot he holds.
C and C?
Outback Carbine WIP to prove I'm not dead Decided to add a scope, otherwise it won't forfill the rules.
I haven't done a texture for it, the colours are just 3DS Max's basic colour coding system. Anything you like/dislike? Constructive critism appreciated
Anyway, I think the rifle could get roughed up a bit. Most of body is whole and there's just a few things that implies that its makeshift/broken. I reckon you only are at a rough stage, and have not yet proceeded to details, but a few cracks and loose screws and such would help alot. The Machete thingy is coming along nicely, as well as the jarate thingy. Keep at it!
First is my current design, second is Sniper's actual rifle and third is the new. It's modelled after a metal strut and is bolted on similar to the first design.
Should I do one like the first and second models, or something similar to the third?
Here's a better shot of the butt with the halfway rebuilt Carbine. What do you think, should I do it in thise style or do something similar to the original?
It comes in at just under 2900 tris, considerably lower than my first try (over 8000). The thing wrapped around the scope is going to be an dirty old can, probably team coloured Bonk!. Any c&c before I unwrap it?
Anyway, I've just finshed unwrapping the carbine and laying down some base colours.
I tried to stick to the official colours, but none of them really fit the scope, and I'm not sure the colour that's on it is right. What do you guys think?
P.S., I'm willing to bet that the bolts on the handle clip the Sniper's hand, but I couldn't get Gui Studio MDL to work so I could check in game. Oh well.
