TF2 - Polypack - Vozati

Hey there, I saw this contest on the TF2 site. Ive submitted some hats for the spy and pyro for the contribute page already but for this I plan on doing a hunting pack for the sniper.

My list so far:

-An older hunting rifle akin to a ruger possible with a bayonet instead of a scope
-A canteen to replace jarate.
-A hunting knife that isn't a kukri
-A hat similar to Elmer Fudd's or some shooting earmuffs

First update Below is some quick sketchs I made of some of my ideas, yea the top gun is crooked but I wont be building the model to it.


And after that I went and knocked out a first version of the canteen. Its wrapped in camo net. Feedback or suggestions espeicialy for the strap would be welcome.

That's 5000 tris? Are you going to use normal mapping? If not, that's way too high.

So you're going with a hunting theme? That seems like it could work quite well. How do you reckon the canteen would work?

Maybe you should go with something more akin to an old hunting rifle (something like this but with a big gaudy old scope maybe?)

And an antler-handled bowie knife (like this) would fit very well with that theme as well.

So yea, its kinda crunch time now I guess but Ive been working on this again for last couple of days I have models for canteen and hat. The gun is mostly complete except for a scope and the knife is half started Those two shouldn't take so long.

Models are good but the textures just don't seem to fit in with TF2, they're too complex and realistic (especially the knife). Make the colors brighter and add more simple textures :P

Thanks for the input. I was slightly worried that would. Cooking up some adjustments.

Made some changes to the textures
-added saturation for every texture
-simplified knife and parts of the gun

I'm happy with these now.
