TF2 - Polypack - Tactical Pyro Package

*Disqualified Items because they existed before this contest started*

Hello everyone,

My concept idea for the pyro was to give him an update, that turns the pyro more into a supporting class instead of an offensive flanking class. He should assist his teammates even more than going his own path of destruction. But then he also should be able to be a great help for different kind of situations for the team, which means that the pyro turn into a tactical class within the fight. He may loses his ability to spread damage, but on the other side, he can cause more trouble than ever when he's surrounded by teammates. And on the other side the pyro has to change his weapons for every situation he walks into instead of using his flamethrower only.

The Fire-Fryer

Fire_Fryer_Pyro.jpg

The Fire-Fryer is a combination item for the Pyro occupying the primary slot. Its primary use is to spread oil on enemies or the environment. The Fire-Fryer may seem useless alone, but in combination with fire, the oil can become a deadly inferno. You can spread oil and torch places to damage enemies foolish enough to walk into it or you can torch oiled people which causes more damage then normal fire. It's also possible to spread oil on disguised or cloaked spies. Possible ways for setting the oil alight can be a flame-thrower of another Pyro, a flaming arrow, a flare, a fire-taunt or even the custom item "Finger of Hell" that I posted before.

The downside of this weapon is that it is limited to 75 Ammo and being a primary weapon, it replaces your flame-thrower. It will be useless if you don't have any means to set it alight and it can hurt you if you spray your oil on an open flame.

With this weapon the Pyro becomes a more team oriented player and a capable defensive unit, rather than an offensive flanking fighter.
The Smoker
Smoker_Pyro.jpg
"The Smoker" is a secondary slot item for the pyro. It allows him to burst concerted smoke clouds to blind the enemy, to fumigate him or to extinguish fired places or burning friends. A Smoke Cloud lightly damages enemies inside it, but it's easy to airblast it away. Once a Smoke Cloud is airblasted, it loses its density and damaging effect, but it floats fast over the ground. If you burst it with the Smoker only, it floats very slow, so that it nearly won't move. A fresh bursted cloud can hold on for 10 seconds and it becomes more powerful if you burst on the same place for a longer time. On the other side, such a powerful cloud just covers a small field. If you try to cover the whole place with clouds, this cloud won't do much damage, but can slightly block the view of an enemy. The Smoker has about 75 ammo and no reserved ammo. A good cloud with a high density can be burst with about 10 ammo-units. This Item is also more useful for tactical usage instead of making killing streaks, which actually means that the damage of the smoker isn't usually high.
The Finger OF HELL
Finger_Of_Hell_Pyro.jpg
The "Finger OF HELL" is the ultimate torching melee weapon for the pyro. It doesn't need any ammo, cooldown or reloading time and can be used all the time by holding the fire button. If you press the finger of hell against a person (edit: which means close-ranged-contact), he immediately starts to burst into flames. And if you still have to chance to hold the finger against him, it causes extra fire damage. A big disadvantage for this weapon is that it only causes indirect fire damage. That makes it difficult to fight with it against other pyros. And of course, the Finger OF HELL doesn't work under water.

The pyro waves in his taunt with his hand, but then his hand catches on fire and he tries to extinguish it by waving much faster.

Basicly I already uploaded those items on January 2010 when the TF2 Contribute starts, but now I wanne try it again instead of wasting my work I've done before. I also never heard about Valve about my idea even after I sended them an email to it. ^^'

But I hope you like it anyway. Have Fun with them!
I may release some concept stuff about those items as well : )

I like the concept of the Fire Fryer, but I feel it's basically too supportive and situational.
Having a Flamethrower that can't flame, is either going to force other players on your team go Pyro to help you, or it is going to force you not to use the shotgun, or force you to use a certain melee.
Perhaps let it have a secondary Flamethrower attack that is VERY weak in direct combat, because at least then he can use his primary weapon alone to cause fires.
Pyro should be able to use his own primary means of attack, even if he's the only one left alive of his teammates.

When it comes to the Smoker, blinding is never a feature that players enjoy.
Not sure what else I feel about this weapon :O

I don't like the Finger of hell, sorry.
It doesn't act like a Melee, and people would generally be pretty pissed if you could ignite them across the map. It generally goes against the idea of the Pyro being a close combat class, and it's a bit too supernatural.

the smoker idea looks like it could be worked into a really good submission
the finger idea is...a bit different, nor is it really a melee weapon
an' the fire fryer would only come into real use in certain situations

the 3d models are brilliant. but i'm unsure of the ideas :C

I think the oil concept is great, might need some tweaking though so the pyro retains some offensive ability.

Finger of Hell seems a bit odd though..

Did I descripe it wrong ? It's no ranged weapon, just a melee fire-weapon. It lights up the enemys you touch. It's kinda like a mini flame-thrower with a range of pocket lighter. I just has no swing damage or something.

Okay, if you think of it alone it isn't really that usefull. But as a Combination item for the "Fire-Fryer" it's the only way (except for the flare gun) to light up the oil. If you have the combination "Fire-Fryer+Smoker/Shotgun+Axe/Axetinguisher" Weapon, you might not have the chance to ever light up your oil if you need too.

Ah, still I don't like it's supernatural nature.
It doesn't feel like it would fit in the game that well.

Perhaps if it was a modifies lighter or something like that... who knows.

The fryer has one of the better models I've seen.
  • .Mr.Transparent
Weren't they made before the competition started?

I thought in the rules they had to be made during the competition time,
  • Buck
Im sure the fryer or possibly all of these models were made waay before the competition, seen the fryer on steamforums not long after contrubute came out. Maybe im mistaken though.

Sorry guy, I was told that I can't use theese models because I worked too early on them. : P
Those weapons (and every other weapon from www.tf2ci.com) are disqualified. I'm don't mind if you want to give some comments, but as I said, it won't change the fact, that I can't use them.

If you want to help me, take a look at the "Anti-Snip-R-2000" and say what you think.

So you call the haduken that pyro does in his taunt normal?
