@Gerre - Tell me what you think about my suggestions.
Damn you and your awesome ideas Khthon I really like them, but as I said before the shotgun without attachments is priority now.
The model used in the animation isn't finished yet. I'm going to finish the exploded barrel today, so expect an update soon
Looks pretty interesting :O
I want to see it in game now though, so we can see if it should maybe be a bit thicker..
It looks a bit wimpy compared to the old pipe, but I could be wrong.
if your finger clips on the trigger guard dose that mean in the original shotgun it clips too. Seen as there pretty much the same size.... saying that it wouldn't surprise me in tf2 at all.
On a more on topic note it looks really nice loving the blown open part
About the attachment, I don't think I can combine the moonshine idea with the pitchfork, so I'll have to make a choise. I'm still leaning towards the pitchfork attachment because I like the gameplay idea (and it looks awesome), but the moonshine attachment is probably a much safer choise, because it doesn't really alter gameplay.
I'm already going to submit the shotgun without any attachments to play it safe, so I've decided to still go for the pitchfork.
My brother made this suggestion which helped me make the decision and I feel stupid for not thinking about it earlier: It's going to work like any other gun (Valve can make up stats for it) BUT it has a killtaunt.
This will be a stab with the pitchfork which stuns the enemy and then a shot of the gun which kills the enemy instantly (like Sniper's Huntsman taunt, first stun then kill). The pitchfork doesn't add any new gameplay but still has a functionality.
Sn1pe is going to do the killtaunt animation.
I'm even thinking of leaving the carbattery out as it doesn't really add anything and I'm going to drop the spychecking stuff, because that was just me being silly
Dropping the battery and spyecheck stuff is in my opinion a very good decition when it comes to the shotgun with the pitchfork. It mostly just distracted from the Hillbilly theme.
You'll still have a version without the pitchfork though, just in case right?
Similarly, it would be useful if you could also make an alternative taunt that isn't a kill taunt.
In the case that Valve already have a kill taunt in store for the Engineer update, and they don't want Engineer to have more than one kill taunt. I think that was the reason the Skullcutter didn't receive the Eyelander taunt.

Haven't thought about this yet, you could be right. Altough the Pyro has a killtaunt for both the shotgun and flare gun, so who knows
I think he should focus on the animating and the final touches, so his entries will be ready in time for the competition.
Only when he's done with that will we be able to tell if he can make some additional items.
Gerre, I have a proposal for that shotgun, I am in need of a good model for this gun I've designed on the tf2 forums, of course in the end valve will make your stats but would you mind if I used your gun as a sort of base of what this shotgun would look like, all credit for the model will of course go to you.
Is it just me or is the engineer's hand a little below the grip and not directly holding it? That or Im going blind.
No you're absolutely right and I'm aware of that. I'm going to use that empty space for the pitchfork attachment I was planning to add. But if Valve decides they want to use this version, they'll have to fix it I'm afraid.
I don't see why the pitchfork can't just be there for aesthetic purposes. It doesn't have to affect gameplay at all. You don't even need to justify it with a kill taunt in my opinion.

I so wanted to blast people with Moonshine fueled ammo, too.
I still think it's an awesome idea, but maybe a bit too abstract as gun attachment imo. I'm still planning to make a moonshine related item though, but that will be something after this contest is over. *tease*those moonshine stills would make a good sentry/dispenser replacement*tease*

Yeah, we trashed the killtaunt idea unfortunately due to technical difficulties and it's pretty close to the deadline.
Allright I'm going to call this pack finished and submit everything. I'm happy with how it turned out
I still have plenty of ideas for this theme, so I'll probably make more items after this contest is over and contribute them.

Time to start unwrapping and texturing.

Engineer winner right there, good job, looks spectacular.

Anyone have some thoughts about this?
The pitchfork is neato as a aesthetic add on, but not for gameplay. They already have a melee slot, so adding a melee to primary seems strange.

Nothing worse than when a good model is accompanies by a bad texture...
Aside from maybe a good model with a good texture being accompanied with bad stats

I just need something to base the sort of style I was trying to point this gun out as.
nice job Gerre

Forgot to post the texture:

It seemed the shotgun itself was already a lot longer than the old shotgun, this seems to be really pushing the limit...

Update on the shotgun anims

Funny and surprising But now the length of weapon is similar to sniper rifle?:)
Of course it would be fun to stab some spies with it
And yeah it did stick out pretty far when I compiled it, so I moved it a bit back. I think this is better?
Also some basic colors and ao.
