I plan to model new engineer weapons. I'm thinking of a blowtorch in place of the wrench (but this may create problems when it's used as a weapon rather than a repair tool), a different pistol than the generic scout/engineer one, and a shotgun which appears to have been made by the engineer himself (if he can create sentries so quickly, I doubt he would be buying pistols and shotguns in a gun store-- rather he'd be creating his own).
This is my first game modeling project ever, I have worked in autodesk inventor and blender, but I'm completely new to modeling apart from that.
I'll post some sketches, followed by 2d and then 3d models for each weapon individually (starting with the shotgun, probably going to pistol and then repair tool).

Here are the sketches I've made for the shotgun so far. I'm trying to make the shotgun and pistol look less "stock" and more like the engineer's buildings.
Sorry for the big scan... I guess it has to load all the way before being thumbnailed (that's actually 25% of how it is on my computer)
I'm resizing that pic for you, replace your previous link asap!

Anyway your model seems more based off of a weapon's statistics rather than an art concept. If you do something creative you can get away with that, people have done creative things starting from stats (Oobersoli's shotty concept). However, yours seems a bit tough. Here's a few things you'll need for this contest:
1) A general theme - Why do these weapons fit together?
2) To preserve the function of the previous weapons, I.E. No cannons for the Sniper, unless they shoot arrows or snipe.
3) Be creative, this contest is about the art, not what your weapon will do. Keep in mind weapon concepts you make can be easily thrown out the window by valve if they like your model and it could serve a completely different purpose.
