TF2 - Polypack - Evicted

I heard about the contest and decided to give it a shot. I'm self-taught up to this point but I figure that it'll be a great learning experience no matter what, and I've already done a few TF2 style models as well.

Theme: The Pyro's Irresponsibility Package

The Stuff:

1. My First Flamethrower - level 10 makeshift weapon
In game description- Great for kids who are looking into the viable field of arson.

This will be a water gun that has been filled with gasoline and has a lit match taped to the end.

2. The Fireman's Lament - Level 10 Roman Candle (flare gun replacement)
In game description- These sell for $100 each. They're also illegal in every country on the planet.

This is a heavily modified Roman Candle that fires via a trigger.

3. Numbskull's Neckbrace (misc item)
In game description (this description simply pokes fun, and does not relate to the theme)- The pyro had to wear this after a brutal nerfing in a back alley a few weeks ago. Don't worry, though, he'll make a full recovery.

This is what happens to irresponsible people who play with dangerous things.

Cool ideas. Can't wait to see how they look!

Those ideas sounds pretty good. I really like the flamethrower idea, had one sort of similar myself. Interested in seeing what the roman candle gun will look like, lots of room for creativity there.

    Concepts soon?

The Roman Candle is actually mostly modeled, except for a few details. I kept it fairly simple so that it would still be in line with the flare gun. As soon as I get each model done, I'll post a picture. Texturing will be done once everything is modeled, though.

It seems to fit in his hand well, but seeing as I'm an inexperienced modeler does anyone have suggestions or comments? If possible I'd also like to get models of the regular weapons for reference, but with all the screwing around you have to do with the mdldecompiler to get it to work with Orangebox I'd probably mess something up. I don't trust myself with editing or moving source files around, so if anyone has .objs or something similar thay could get me, it would be greatly appreciated.

I was checking through the steam forums tutorial regarding hat modeling, but I ran across a question. If I plan to submit only the obj and mtl files (no source format files), do I need to link the hat to the character's head bone? I'm just wondering whether I should do that or keep only the hat mesh itself and submit it to Valve.
