-the latest in spytech sound suppression gadgets
-enhanced and improved tobacco enjoyment options
- and also the new spytech line of kitchen cutlery
- a hat...of some sort
Electric/Automatic wrench. Replaces the regular wrench.
-repairs and builds 50% faster.
-drains metal with use.
not sure yet how to use it for offensive purposes tho
You probably did not see it, but on the tf2 forums (www.teamfortress.com), they had something like this called the "repair node". They tried it out, but did not like it because it ruined gameplay. You can go for the idea, but I have almost no doubt that the valve team would turn it down. Sorry.
If you gave it some little legs to follow the engi around, it's offensive attack could be a self destructive leap, crushing the enemy but breaking the fridge in the process.

That's an awesome idea maybe have the fridge encase the enemy within it.
hmm...kamikaze dispensers. now that sounds like a solid idea, but animation also sounds like it would be a royal pain Engineers are always holed up in their nests, making something like that would encourage them to go outside the base once and awhile or at least become a little more mobile which what im trying to aim for
@red communism: yeah thats what i was afraid of. the engineer has so many possibilities but alot of them can have such adverse effects on gameplay mechanics. thanks for the info.
Alright small update. Added some little bits to add some more interest, like the taped battery and such as well as made edits to the geometry. Am very open to any critique/suggestions right now...so...yeah. Still have alot of work to do with it.
I have been thinking about creating a melee weapon but i dont have any strong ideas yet. I was thinking of giving him ... a BIG OL' MALLET...or a 2x4 or something.
Actually i was thinking of giving him a chainsaw. and then modeling a safety visor for his construction helmet. thinkn ill go with that.
The "wrench" or whatever you wanna call it looks like it really coming well. I think you could make it like the Impact Hammer of the UT world. Maybe strapping an air compressor on the engi's back and using that to power the "wrench". You could run up to someone and attack and the "barrel" pop out to attack then go back in.
It's a little extreme (and silly), but to keep with the rules you could always have your electric wrench as a melee weapon and the irony is, despite all it's technology he still just smashes it against stuff to fix it.
Nice suppressor, very cartoony. Texture works very well too, although it may need a specular map to look as shiny as other weapons.
I'm digging the kitchen knife too. Simple, but it fits the theme you're going for. I would recommend redoing the texture, avoid straight black and go for more of a gray.
You could give it some personality by engraving something on either the Blade or handle (ala the Ambassador), Gabe Newell digs fancy knives.

The wrench looked like it could be a pistol skin. If that's so, it could have been easily tweaked to work as a fast melee with pistol animations.

Having said that I really like the design, so perhaps you should think about designing a new melee weapon as well?

Good luck with the Spy pack!
Okay, I've rounded up some refs for you, hopefully some of the ideas can spice up the Kitchen Knife -
