Hey guys , my friend suggested I start a WIP thread on my Iron Man Mk III model. Here are some screens of the current work I have done. Critiques are always welcome. Thanks Guys
Thanks Guys. Yes I think I'm gonna texture this one, not quite sure how yet. And I I'm prob gonna rig it and do action shots. I may or may not bring it into zbrush for some of the smaller seams.
Update Time! Ive added the Arms, more detail but still not quite done. Still have to ad the hand plate. Ive mode the stomach and spine around a bit. Also Ive curve and extended the calves and leg
Awesome stuff. Do you have any reference for the various bits under the red and yellow armor plating (especially noticeable around the armpit in this picture) or are you just going to wing it?
PLEASE *begs* add some kind of specular to the material so we can read all the details and shapes a bit better in the renders, the skylight/light tracer look is hiding a bunch of stuff worth seeing.
Hey guys, Thanks for all the comments and crits. I really appreciate it. Heres another update with a materials test. I also finished the modeling phase. I need to tweak the material I know its too reflective I think. Its been giving me some problems so Ill continue to work until I go see Iron Man 2 tonight.
You're doing a great job man, my main crit would be that the suit does not look organic enough. It doesn't look like a person would fit in there because it is too boxy. The hip and crotch area is the biggest concern.
I googled some images, It is really hard to find a decent full body one, but I found this for example:
I think if you push the organics of the suit (the curves and forms) it will look much cooler. Playing around with FFD boxes, Bends, twists etc. can go a long way.
This is a cartoony Iron man here, but if you push the forms more in this direction (obviously just a little, because it is a cartoon), I think it will help the feel of your character a lot.
Yeah it looks nice but I agree with the above post. What you want to do is use a model of a mans body and build the armor on that. So you could probably do that and tweak the armor to fit the body or something.

Also. Sex.

Cool so far!

Man this reminded me Iron Man 2 is actually running now, should go see it.

Good luck!

Textures seem a bit flat, I would rough him up a little.. check out Patrick Boivin's Baby Iron Man for inspiration!
Months old thread :shifty:
