After starting to unwrap my low poly model, I realised that the texture was warped, and no matter how I unwrapped it, it never changed. Always warped int he same way, as shown, too.
Even after flatmapping it remains messed up. Can anyone tell me where to start to try and fix this??

I had this happen when I was first starting out in Max, I can't remember exactly what the reason was. You could try exporting out as obj and importing it back in to see if that fixes it.
No they aren't.Procedural Maps can be dependent on the transformations, depending on the settings, but UVs are dependent on the topology only.
You are most definately unwrapping the wrong Channel, as renderhjs said.
That doesn't really affect this specific case though, my mistake.
You're looking to match these two things.
