Is this a good tut?

I'm trying to make some low-poly characters for a game.

Is this a good tut?

Also, should I do it like that, I mean seperate model parts for the bode ie legs, arms, head, etc? And if so, then I use split poly and then merge verts, is that a workflow I should follow?

I see suggestions for using a box and for using a cyclinder, which is better? I would think boxes for head and body and then cyclinders for legs and arms, yes?

That's a pretty old one, I think it was one of Ben's first ones.

The topology is mostly OK, but some not-so-great areas too. Usually the character is one solid skin these days, instead of separate pieces. Certainly you can start out with separate pieces, but they should be welded together at the end.

Box or cylinder doesn't matter, it's the end topology that matters. Some good reference in here.
