This is modeled after the stainless version of the popular airsoft gun made by Tokyo Marui called the Hicapa 4.3. I changed it around in a couple of areas to look more like a real gun.

Really ace!
No, I don't bake with all one smooth group unless the tangent space of my baker is synced with the engine. However I did use a lot of tricks (85 degree angles) to normal map hard looking edges such as the trigger.
We need to have a gun off comp one of these days.
Just curious though, why keep the softgun markings? Moar text?
Awesome work and dedication b-ro
If I had to make any crits I would say that the normals and possibly the AO is a bit too pronounced. The various details seem to be poping too much imo, if that makes any sense.
[Edit]
Just noticing the finger print details in the textures, really awesome job with the texturing. Subtle details like that go a long way an it really helps sell this one I think.
How long did it take you to model the high res ? At the moment I'm weighing up the quality of sub-d versus the amount time it takes to produce.
what do you mean about the 85 degree thing?
awsome job as always dude.
friend just got a marui high capa and an m9 for airsoft-ing, so yeah... looks all good afaik (and no i don't know, still looks cool ^^)
00zero, it's a pretty cheap trick. 90 degree angles are poorly handled if the tangent basis isn't matched, so you just make it slightly angled.
brandoom, i would if marmo supported it. i suppose i'll display it in the 3ps shader for my folio.
harry, yeah buddy.
I am pretty new around these parts but I have seen a few of your pieces and am quickly learning you are one of the better hard-surfaced modelers of the community.
Keep rockin!
Awesome job.
