Another H&K UMP

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I started this project as a means of bumping up my portfolio and a friend suggested I post some screens here. Much to my horror there was already a fellow modeling the exact same weapons (and it looks damn good).

So anyway, here's mine.










Forgive me if you're familiar with this particular gun and a couple things aren't completely accurate. I'm honestly not much of a "gun guy" (though I have nothing against them) and that's actually why I decided to do this piece. I went on Google Image Search, said "that one looks cool" and started modeling.

Soon to come, UVs, Textures, etc.

If this is your low poly model, it's got too many polygons on the edges of things (especially on the front of the gun) where you could just use a normal map to achieve the same effect. You should make a high poly model and then bake its details down onto a normal map for your low poly.

Sorry I didn't specify. This is meant to be the high poly.

High poly as in sub-d? Or high poly as in throw a ton of detail in for a diffuse only skin?

If it is going to be sub-d, you might want to rethink a lot of those tris.

I'm going for diffuse only, although I plan on making a low poly version for some normal mapping.

It looks almost in between high and low poly, were you planning from the start to bake this into a normal map or did you construct it with the intention of just using a diffuse in mind?
