Hi guys I'm sorta new to this board, found it through cdg.net and have checked out a lot of your guys work.
I guess I'm mainly and FPS animator, animating for Counter-Strike Source for about 2-3 years now, grown custom to biped and fk/ik rigs, might start looking for a career in it soon. Kinda new to texturing so maybe an M82 wasn't the best thing to start off with, oh well
Still getting the base colors/damage down, rendered in 3ds max with 5 seconds normals and specs ha.
What do ya think so far?

Your damage is too .. big. Look at how subtle the wear and tear is on this. The units that use these weapons take VERY good care of them. They carry them in cases, and pretty much only take them out of the case when they're in position and ready to use them. They need to make sure that their weapons are still configured properly and performing their best. Something like a drop or hitting it on something could seriously throw off how your scope is sighted in, which could be disastrous in that position.
Judging by the reference on Pixagogo, most of the details in the texture of this will come from very slight miscoloration in the metals and materials used, dirt, and the muzzle blast. I would pay the most attention to those things. Scratches should be a result of the ideas you come up with when you're playing with the dirt and muzzle blast stuff.
Pay attention to the reference, it will make this a lot easier.
I'm focusing more on the clean one right now though, then move onto to custom paint and stuff...
Thankyou for the feedback I appreciate it
Maybe then later I can edit for a clean version...
I`m not a great fan of criting w.i.p,but I assume it`s just the paint your working on at present...If so...
Are you using various brushes with the eraser tool to remove the paint layer?...Possibly try varying the tools strength.Your most probably already doing so,it`s just difficult to tell.My eye`s aren`t what they we`re.lol...Anyway..Crack-On bud;)
he has very good tuts
