Here's the finished Zipper with an alpha render to remove the background. He's under 1200 tris (about 1140) and a 100x100 texture. I can make an up-res texture but think I'm done with this chap.
Hello there
I've only recently happened upon Polycount and I when I saw this thread I liked the idea and thought I'd have a go at making something. It's unlikely anyone will be rushing to have go at what first came to my mind but it was a cartoon I loved as a child. So without futher ado my attempt at modelling Orbie of Katie and Orbie fame.
With his little spaceship the total comes to about 1130 triangles. His is mesh is far from tidy but I wanted to get some final product and avoid just fiddling with the mesh or unwrapping forever. The cartoon edge was added in GIMP after rendering as I couldn't find a way to increase the thickness of the edge provided by the blender edge render option. Naturally as my first little 3D character I'd appreciate any comments and critisism on offer. Hopefully he would be up to inclusion, the adorable little guy deserves it
hello, im new to polycount, and this is my first post.
i made a low poly wakko from animaniacs at 1130 triangles, but i dont know how to upload an image to this site. i dont want to link to an image hosting site, i would rather upload it directly here if possible
Hello I'm a noob to this site....when do all the pics or 3D characters have to submitted by and how far back on the cartoons can we go or is it strictly 90's cartoons?
Dude at this point the creator of this thread hasn't responded to my email just make whatever cartoon character you want for fun.
^ That's what I'm doing & maybe adding a few triangles if I need them but not over board. This is an unofficial challenge which should remain on going indefinitely. So any cartoons go crazy with It!
Going to try him, going to be a speed test and color test for me.
1,338 Triangles
1 Day Concept / Background / Back view is just for reference.
1 Day Model
[ Couple of hours for both but making It simple. ]
Your tick is coming along, review > this image < when editing/building your character.
Some lines are more important than others, so whatever is not needed or is not helping your silhouette remove them and use them on areas where they will make a difference.
To post an image < This icon is how you do It, though if the image is too big either in resolution or file size then It will not work and you will have to do what you've done which is link them with an external image host.

The new models look great. Zippie and Orbie are perfect!
It's been about a year since I checked-in, apologies. I have my Batman rigged and I will post a pose soon.
