Well this is the first time for me modeling out a low poly tank and i feel that i did pretty well. I found out after i had finished the project the proportions were off eeekkk But i like the texturing
Nice model. I think the textures are a bit too rusty. If you are going for the rusted look, don't have the whole thing rusted. If not, I would make it a bit less noisy. A new pass over the texture and you should have a great asset there.
I will have to agree, never a fan of things that look like they were dipped in rust paint. Its also very noisy and grainy. You can have it be really rusted out but just not all of it. Will give it more character and make it more interesting to look at then just brown noise.
Also with the fact that the number paint is sitting on top of the original metal and all the metal is sitting at 100% rusted away I am supprised that any of that paint would still be there as paint generally peels off when the under metal rusts away.
also if ur going to have it very rusty like that, it may help to add to the normal.. try using nvidia normal filter or crazy bump to get a quick normal from your diffuse.
right now it looks like a lowpoly rts unit kind of thing. why the 2048 map? you could size it down to like 1024 or maybe even 512 without losing a whole lot of detail, there isn't really any high frequency stuff painted in so it'd be all good

Yup, agreed. Also, for what I read regarding optimization you should add edges to those n-gons at the cylinder caps. Other than that I'd say geometry is perfect.
I do agree on the rust abuse though, if you could make it less uniform and then take a couple of in-engine screenshots with nicer lighting (those first renders feel a little too self-illuminated) and you've got yourself one nice portfolio piece.
The gun is way too long for a panzer III, two thirds of it would be spot on for the longest one.
Also, looking at the bottom of the tank (I remember seeing this in another thread from a different angle). Yours goes way too far down, and there is a couple of features on the back of it that looks off..

I'll be sure to make the refinements and post back soon.
Tank Wires.
