3dsmax: Visualizing Instances

I'm having a hard time figuring out what is an instance of what in my scene. Is there some easy way to visuzlize all relationships between entities so I can tell what is hooked up to what. I looked for something in the schematic view but wasn't able to find anything.

The only thing I'm aware of is the "select instances" function under the edit menu

ah well that's certainly useful still would be nice to see them in a list or something, but this works as well. Thanks

Schematic View has a couple ways to list instances.

1) Display > Display Floater > turn on Base Objects. Select > Select All. Display > Expand All.
Then instances will show in bold, but not if you're zoomed out, cuz bold text changes to regular if it's too small. Boo

2) List Views > All Instances. Always works, just not as easy to navigate.
