Hey guys I haven't done much texturing ever so i figure it is time to face my fears. I'm doing a generic sci fi wall. The inspiration comes from dead space concept art. the wall is still very wip and i know there is a problem with the grill in the middle of the model as far as the normals go. Im looking for paint over and critique explaing way to help further my texture. As of now i know that the metal is dull and not very exciting; Im looking to improve that. also im not to sure how to make metal look like it has had some ones hand go over it and polish it clean like on a stair rail. I know this texture needs grunge but im not sure how to get the greasy look. I am currently looking at several tutorials for inspiration but any added feed back in this thread would be welcomed with open arms.

bar none, those are great.
a good way to get a greasy look is to keep the original diffuse color, but add some white grunge to the specular.
if youre using UDK to get the final render, here are some cubemap tutorials.
Obviously youre not going for chrome like in the video, but the difference is just how strong teh reflection is and how blurry or crisp it is. some material editors let you control the blurriness.
