Maya: xRay opacity?

xRay opacity?
I am beginning to think I have imagined the feature?
But I could have sworn I once had a way to change the opacity of xray display??

If this is the case,
could someone please save me from having to use material transparency?

Just animate material opacity, then you can control it with the timeslider.
