I've been working on this for a class this is our first time modeling in high poly
Here's the reference (in this class we're not allowed to use our own concepts so i found a concept by Dan Scott off his art website):

And here's the low poly exploded view that I'll be putting the high poly onto as a normal map... I plan to make the skulls and what not out of normal map projection because they're too close to the blade to warrant their own models. Also the fleshy bits and skull face on the blade will be created by normal map painting in photoshop....I know this needs a lot of work so meaningful feedback is very appreciated
