maybe some clay renders instead or some plain old screenshots. I men the materials are okay but its so hard to read at this point with all the reflection and on a black background.
The leg was the only bit id done so far, as far as materials were concerned and even then its a 1st attempt. So it will most likely be refined as I go.
Thats a quick spin round of one of the legs tho, so you can see materials.
I was just posting up here with a WIP to get feedback, the video someone posted already gave me a nice idea so this thread has already worked to some degree ^^
haha, you noticed that. Yeah I was playing with the idea of using that kind of Crysis style for the "muscle structure". It was that or do a mix of fur + tech.
I think I got carried away with the legs when I was trying to sort out how they would tuck up into the body, went thru a few styles because the height of the legs meant lack of space. You are right tho, i need to step back and sort out the major parts 1st.
Blender TY btw, i went back over the pictures of bikes id downloaded for reference. Looked at my silhouette and realised some silly errors, thanks for the drag away before i got too bogged down in detail.
In all seriousness, i like the textures so far, but for something like this i'd do it stylized,
at least a little bit. Just my 2 cents. Keep it up, i want to see this thing when it's done :P
Yeah I definately want to add a personal style to it. I'm either going with racing style(logo, stickers, team) or scout bike(dmg, tools for scouting, camo-style)
But thats a long way off yet.
I only just noticed that ppl seem to think that i was making some jewish slur. -.-
Just to set that matter straight, no I wasn't and the word you're thinking of is "kike".
And now I've had the label of my thread changed >.< thx alot I look like some kinda of idiot now.
The tail will come later, being that its going to be a scout / race type of bike, its either going to be used as a sensor array / indicator device.
Im just trying to get the basic shape down, I think I'm happy with it so far. I've been using pictures of concept bikes / big cats to try and combine the 2 for body shape. If anyone has any suggestions on the shape before i start locking it down and building, say so now ^^
Also to the comment about how it keeps from faceplanting when the legs tuck up, i found it to be quite amusing. There are pictures of powersuits / spaceships and gravity defying buildings on this forum and this is the one you choose to question the laws of physics on?
This is one of the strangest ideas I've seen, I think you should make it into a jet bike with 4 fold away legs so the cat runs with rider attached till it reaches full speed then a turbine kicks in and woosh, off they go!
I like Anuxinamoon's idea with the tail, but not a furry one
Well, I didn't want to really do things that had been done before. Plenty of spaceships about, at uni 50% of the 3dsmax that people showed in projects was spaceship type crafts.
I do like the idea of the cat running till max speed then whoosh, but thats kinda what it will do now. The idea is, it will run till the speed reaches enough to maintain balance then it folds up.
Thinking of making some kind of air intake on the front of the shoulders that pushes air out the back of the shoulder, kinda like a jet.
I'm sorry, but the main difference between this and the other gravity defying stuff. Is that the other stuff actually looks cool, and the gravity defyiness is not as painfully blatant.
To be rude, but also very honest: The core design on this is bad, and the fact that you work on small details instead of treating it as a whole is definitely not helping (crysis legs). GCMP's point is also very valid, the fact that you blend wheels and legs on the same machine seems very weird. By stuffing a rocket in its arse and giving it four retractable legs will give it more consistency, legs for running, rocket for flying/hovering/wooshing.
Also, to make it perfectly clear, I am not trying to sound like an authority on anything, I am just giving you my subjective view.
Could you explain what you mean by the core design is bad? You said the detail but that was addressed much earlier in this thread that I got carried away with a small idea without focusing on the larger idea.
The big cat creature was used to pull large heavy machinery. Got me thinking "What if this same tech just got carried on for hundreds of years, how would it look once high-tech got its hands on it"
Without some kind of device which allows for heavy inertial boost it will never be fast and stable enough to support the entire front 3/4 of the body.
street bikes seem to be able to do it quite well, anyways my reply wasnt really serious..
IMO, i think you should rethink the concept to support the front a little better. however, if the "thing" was pulling a large load the front would stablize.
I'm gonna be adding the engine at the back where the wheels are, putting its centre of gravity much closer to the back. I'll probably end up making the front end look much lighter.

lol.
You are getting into details way too early. Focus on the design, idea and silhouette behind your character before you go into Crysis nanosuit mode.

I quite literally loled.

Yeah it's basically speed / gyros to keep it balanced out. Think segue but more awesome.

Such an interesting design!

Basically did what they did on top gear when they were crossing the salt flats ^^
Bear in mind this was 30mins just seeing how it looks.
