Hey guys, I finished up this gas harvester a couple months ago and never got around to posting it. Here's the finished result. The goal was to create something fantasy driven but subtle enough to seem as though it could feasibly exist. I wanted to also create something wholly from myself w/out mimicing someone else's work or using another's concept. I knew i wanted this alien gas harvester to be an older blue collar worker with more common apparel and gear but worn and used. I also knew i wanted to keep fairly human-esque anatomy and proportions so i could also turn it into an anatomy study. I was hoping to portray a sense of 'worn determination' and went w/ the specific proportions to portray, via larger hands and feet, that he worked a lot w/ his hands and was on his feet all the time. I went w/ the evolved/engorged olfactory glands as the point of his alien-ness. They aid in his gas harvesting by allowing him to detect subtle molecular changes in the air.
I thought about it. I initially intended it to be just a sculpt. However, I think I can get a lot more of the feel I want across if add color/materials. Perhaps after i do another piece (game model) i'll come back and turn it to game rez.
wow, cool harvester, i love all thoose crazy details on him, like that glove on his back. His annatomy looks very good also (scary stuff coming from inside his nose xd) maybe he is just a bit puddle on his neck, and his gaz mask is a bit simple compared to the rest. But this is really minor details, great work.
