Ok so I'm obviously new to the forum and new to 3ds Max as well. I rendered some of the assets I'm currently working on for a level I'm designing in UDK. I know these assets need improvements and I would like suggestions on what needs to be improved and how I can go about doing that.

1)The edge wear on the generator looking thing looks too uniform.
2) The texture for the two bed spreads are exactly the same. Make them slightly different from each other.
3) Alot more polys are needed for the cylindrical object in the 2nd image.
4) Bevel your edges on the crate and add more wear and tear to it.
5) Now that I think about it, it seems that your lighting is really killing the presentation of your objects. Mess around with the lighting more.
6) Do something with the legs on the bed other than just having them as cylinders. Add some interest to the design.
7) The trash can is looking way too white, and needs alot more polys.
8) The rusty barrel is actually your best one. Show us some alternate views for it though. It's hard to tell what's going on with the current view.
9) You can tell that the details in the pipe are repeating. Do some painting in photoshop to make it vary more.
Try to use some reference and stick as close to it as possible. When in doubt, try to mimic what you see in the real world.
Hope this helps!
