So once again this year, me and a friend (who now lives in Finland, makes things a bit harder) tried to get some music done for the FAWM challenge. We have our little "Fort Elmfield" name that we release stuff under; it's just for fun, nothing serious.
FAWM (February Album Writing Month) challenges you to write 14 tracks in 28 days, which is pretty tough when working full-time at the same time (and my friend was crunching on Alan Wake), which meant we only got 7 tracks finished this year.
Still, that's better than last year

So here are my contributions:
Fort Elmfield - 1923Fort Elmfield - A Thousand BelowFort Elmfield - Devil In The DarkFort Elmfield - LampblackFort Elmfield - MeasuresFort Elmfield - Old Nick
Neither of us can sing, so all of these are instrumental, mostly in or around the rock/metal/pop-rock genre, with varying amounts of cheese.
All of the above were written, recorded and mixed by myself, usually in the region of 5-6 hours work per track, usually over 2-3 evenings.
All guitars are actual real guitars, recorded and mixed in FL Studio. The bass, drums and any other instruments (there's string/synth here and there) are sequenced from samples in FL Studio.
I'm not going back to re-do any of these, but it'll be interesting to hear what people think. I think it's pretty difficult to write an "interesting" instrumental-only piece of music, certainly some lyrics and singing would make these pieces
much more interesting (IMHO).
If the contest happens again next year I might look into finding a singer (or buying a mic

) and try to make some
proper songs...
Anyway, enough words. Just give 'em a listen if you're interested, and let me know what you think.

I love the slower part a little bit before mid way in 'Devil In The Dark', sounds like something that would play during foreplay in a movie...
