This project is inspired by the song Best Western by Bad Astronaut.

This project expanded from an older piece I was working on this tv. It's actually going to be made into a sculpture. A local arboretum is funding me the money for materials to build 3 of this guys, slightly larger than life. So I'll probably post some pictures of that later. It will be on display there for 6 months.

But back to this project.



The tv right now is only 286 tri so I'm probably going to go back in and model the extra detail, once I work on the rest of the scene.


and here's the crap-y block out. I'll probably model it for 2 or 3 final picture angles, maybe just 1 and render out the props separately, I need more stuff for my portfolio.

Right now I'm looking for photos/screen shots for inspiration and style. And trying to figure out so more detail to add.

And yes, the black thing is a blocky person. Probably should add another person to make it seem more like a party.

For some reason the first thing I thought when I saw this was the "Money for Nothing" song by Dire straights. Youtube the music video and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Marmoset seems to make the edges a bit worse, may have to try it in unreal.

could probably shrink that down to a 256x256 map without much noticeable difference.

Maybe a dumb question, but did you apply smoothing groups to the top lip?

Yeah I did, I don't know whats up with it in marmoset, looks fine in XSI.
