Sci-fi concept artist in need

Hello fellow artists,

My name is Sean Kelly. My work can be seen at here and I'm currently working on an MMOFPS. I have sketches, some models, the beginnings of a design document, storyline and hundreds of reference images. I intend on using the crytek engine for this title, with the disturbing title of Meat Grinder. A forum and sdk are still needed, but it is early days still.

I'm mainly a 3d artist, although I can also paint, draw concepts and write, 3d is my main expertise. I have several talented people who are interested in joining me at a later date, but first I want to develop the storyline, level design and concept further. I have several concept paintings and sketches already, plus one model completed and textured model.

Meat grinder will be a combination of realistic and comic book style, much like Gears of War and Solomon Kane. The protagonist needs to be developed further, what I have in mind so far he is a grunt soldier abandoned with his platoon on an outpost in a newly colonised planet. The natives are upset to say the least having to leave their lands and being killed off. Think of the Vietnam or Korean war, with soldiers sent into a forgotten by the public warzone.

At this time, I'm in need of a concept artist or two who have the ability to design characters, landscapes, vehicles, weapons and architecture. We will work closely together to achieve our goals.

The aim is to make a 2 level demonstration to pitch to potential publishers in the future. This is an ambitious title that is highly achievable, but I'm going to need your help. It would be next to impossible to create all of this on my own.

    An update, have on board two concept artists but in need of more right now. At this stage, the design document and storyline are evolving. I have decided to use the UDK and if needed at a later stage hire a programmer, but only when the design document is completed. If any concept artists are out there and would like to see what has been done so far and in any way interested then please get in touch.

    With two concept artists already on board, we are making steady progress. We are still on the lookout for a concept artist with the following skills.

    Knowledge of anatomy
    A flair for design
    Excellent drawing and painting skills
    Knowledge of Corel Painter and/or photoshop
    Zbrush skills a plus
    Great personality and communication skills
    Passionate and hard working

    Another thing worth mentioning, the game will no longer be a MMOFPS as it would take close to a decade to complete. Rather, it will be a story driven, non-linear FPS.

    We now have the concept artists on board and the game is progressing fine so far and we are now in the position to recruit some more volunteers. If you have the skill set to fit the criteria on one of these fields then I want to hear from you.


    3d Artists:

    Knowledge of anatomy
    Willing to learn
    Texturing skills, including uv unwrapping
    Excellent drawing and painting ability
    Expertise in a 3d package such as 3ds, maya, softimage etc.
    Knowledge of zbrush desirable
    Great personality and communication skills
    Passionate and hard working
    Knowledge of bodypaint 3d, UDK and xnormal a plus



    3d Animators:

    Good technical abilities with respect to the implementation of animation into a game engine
    Extensive knowledge of 3D Studio Max or Maya and rigging processes
    Understanding of the character development process and its technical dependencies and limitations.
    Deep understanding of anatomy and human/animal kinetics.



    Level designers:

    Flair for design
    Must be enthusiastic and passionate
    Willing to learn and open minded
    Organisational ability
    A team player with great communication skills
    3d modeling skills a plus
    Knowledge of UDK (Unreal Development Kit) a plus
