Hey Guys,
I've been trying to educate myself about building low res meshes off of a high res sculpt. I just went through a fantastic tutorial that demonstrated a workflow to this end with only one hiccup...it uses Maya.
The tutorial demonstrated with Maya the process of constructing a low res mesh off of the high res model using the Quad Draw tool. It allowed the artist to essentially place vertices on the high res mesh and use those to generate polygons using them.
Right now I have a license with 3ds Max (and no interest in ponying up for Maya) so I was wondering if there is a script/utility in Max that can achieve the same desired effect. Can anyone point me in the right direction for something in Max's package that has the same or similar functionality? I'm really excited about trying this process out but am stuck in the technical mire of translating from Maya to Max.
Thanks

Aside from draw poly, there are a few ways to re-topologize a model.

TopoGun is pretty swanky, but it'll cost ya.

Max-retopo is pretty awesome it snap your "cage" mesh to the high poly making it easy to shift-click-drag edges to create the low.
