The small company that I have been working for has been in financial trouble for awhile and has gone belly up...... So happy to be a part of the Polycount Jobless Crew :). Supposedly other local studios will be in growth phases in the next couple of months, maybe i'll get lucky.

    That's sad news :(

Though I guess it wasn't totally unexpected so hopefully you were prepared.

Best of luck finding a new job to you and anyone else affected.

Damn that sucks, best of luck, it does look like things are kind of starting to look up though.

Hey at least you can still smile about it. I've seen your work around though, recently that low poly fighter jet. I think you'll be fine in no time.

Dont feel bad about it, you will eventually get a better job than you had.

Would you consider relocating to Montreal?

It's pretty much where all the jobs are coming.

Relocating can be a tough proposition if you don't have any existing support in the area, such as friends or family. At least in the US, a lot of apartment complexes want several weeks worth of paystubs, which you typically don't have yet. So it's down to Craigslist and other classifieds to find people looking for roommates; meanwhile you end up burning through so much cash staying in motels. Is it any different in Canada?

In my experience, most places will take an offer letter with your salary info on it. They know you won't have paystubs for a job you haven't started yet.

Ive lived all over Canada and in the UK and have never had to give more then the usual first/last months rent and sometimes references. Legally I am not even sure if a landlord could ask you for pay stubs here. I have moved so much over the last 5-10 years, I wont even break a sweat over relocating In fact I really enjoy the prospect of living someplace new and different its can be alot of fun! :)
