So I FINALLY figured out how to make my revolver cylinder... it looks decent enough def better than my previous attempt.
My problem is I know nothing about lighting and rendering. I just take screen caps and crop them.
How would I set up a lighting scene to get this sort of grayed effect??
I'm looking ideally for a step-by-step guide so my dumb ass can understand it. I use maya modeling software.

I can use a sky light but I don't know where to put it, what color it should be? etc etc but then I don't understand what you mean by f10 light tracer.
