Doing these busts quite often at the weekend so it's probably a good time to start a sketchbook. Hopefully get some drawing on the go also. Slowly texturting the first one :P
Edit - If you go File > save screen image, you can save it out at 4x the size, so when you scale it down you can cheat the AA
Changed some of the levels in photoshop also.
Ae. - Well i've pretty much started from fresh from the start of the year, so once i've got some full characters done which i'm working pretty hard on, it'll be up!
Finally started some texturing!! Pretty basic atm, placeholder spec and bump and lotsa texture seams. Want to get into the habbit of posting in here more often :P
- This is rendered with XSI with displacement map, havent done any 'high end' rendering before so this is bit of a learning peice. Going to start looking into SSS tomorrow.
looks good so far, would his hairline really be that far forward? hmm maybe. would be nice to see some eyes in there soon, just to make it feel complete.
New head is ace, although I wish you'd gotten started on the 3 eyed guy first. He's way cooler looking! I've seen plenty of people with a hairline like he has, so I wouldn't say you have to change it, although since he's a bit older, maybe it should recede a bit (or that's my personal bias as a balding dude). Dirty his skin up though. His is as unblemished as a 15 year old girl.
Messing around with some ideas for a book of uber doom/death/witchcraft today :P Quite enjoying it so will probably block out the rest of the front cover tomorrow.
Back to this guy again. Re rendering it from scratch with a different lighting setup. I thought I was happy with the previous one but it's been bugging me recently so I decided to do some reworking. Pretty happy with the new eyes, although the spec is quite intense when the light is shining directly in them.
Working on some final bits and bobs and trying to get a final light rig i'm happy with before I render out a turntable.
New render looks amazing, maybe bounce some light into those shadows? Also, even though the first renders SSS is probably too strong, I think the ears look a little too opaque in the new one, perhaps it's just the new light setup you have. Really amazing sculpting, very natural and believable anatomy on these busts, wow:)
Cheers Enodmi, I agree about the ears - bit rubbery at the minute. Ye i've got some fancy stuff to come on the render like DOF and I can try get some bounces on the go. Thanks for the crit!

Think the hairline transistion is a bit off at the moment, so i'll check out the distances when i'm working on that!
Edit - updated with the latest pic
