Hey guys,
I want to apologize to any members who may be receiving spam in their inboxes from a bot posing as a 'Forum Administrator'. You guys know no one on the team here uses stupid names like that, so please delete the email without confirming a 'read receipt' and move on.
We're looking in with how to deal with this.
Thanks!

wait. Thats BoBo.
Where do you actually get these quotes from? =D
Once an issue on the net was a pain 10 years ago, has been a pain ever since. Admins litrally have to go through every account and see which one is D.O.S or Spoof..or wait for the users behind such accounts to do something irrelevant. Really feel bad for them.
Activision-Blizzard and few others have found a good way to deal with it however.
Anyways, good luck Adam.
Activision-Blizzard was just an example bbob...And others. I wouldnt expect few members' crew controlling a nice peaceful CG community should actually implement an authenticator on PC. lol
That would be funny actually. *please enter your username and password*, *please enter the authorization code* *please enter your last four digits of your phone number* *please enter...and so on*
A simple way how others did it was, supervized a new account for a week and gave it an initial level (which is limited to posting like 10 posts per day, not allowed to post any links, any images, not allowed to pm anyone on the site) after a week when he she proves the feeling of live communication as we are talking right now in this thread, becomes a member and have the right to post eventually.
If the account is DOS and spoof they would ask your email address. Or open a thread, and spam the heck out and easily get cought.
I saw this procedure at some previous forum I used to go to.
EDIT: This is just my opinion.
Thank you!
I love you zac, don't get mad...
Too late...
you wont like me when I'm angry.
Didn't find anything talking about this - I may be blind, soz if there is a thread ... -
I recieved PM notifications via my email, but the sender was a gmail.com email. Both emails with links of course. I used to recieved spam, so I didn't care about it in first time.
I'm not an active user of this forum (shame), so I finally decided to login and find someone like me here, or a post talking about this ...
And what did I found ? The same PM as in my mailbox blablabla ...
I see that the max PM has been set to 1, so there is certainly something wrong here. If someone can clarify this, thx.
I recieved something from a "forum leader", his name was something "like Humanoic" and was not tagged as banned.

Always knew Belias would get his fortune somehow.
You need to make a post, have it moderated by someone on the team, to then be verified as human and not a spam bot. Once approved, you're good to go.
Edit: Did you assigned the moderators to study my account thoroughly as well? It gave me 30 seconds CD until I post this.. And this is my first post of the day. =\
Maybe they are actually trying to encourage lurkers to post, the spammers are so kind!
I think this was enacted during the last spam barrage... so don't want spam be active and get moved to the members pool, heh.
