So Funky Bunnies got me to to start posting here at good ol Polycount. My work can be found at www.Burnt-noodles.com and http://iononemillion.deviantart.com. I currently work at Cryptic Studios as an Associate Character Artist. I am here to further my art skill through crits and network with artists. Here is a sample of my stuff.
So this is the poly painting of the mask rider predator sculpt I've been working on. I will be adding more color stuff in photoshop. C&C always welcome.
regarding the what i like to call "cell art line work" that i see all over the place i figured it out to be easy to reproduce. You just take your line art, duplicate the layer then set it to multiply then gaussian blur it a tiny amount. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't depending on the line work. Hoped that help!
hey man. I remember looking up your work on linked in (I applied to cryptic a while back and wanted to see what the other artists portfolios looked like).
Anyways Great stuff, it appears you have much more to show than I remember.
My only suggestion with the first sculpt is to pull out some of the shapes more in the high poly. It appears more flat in the high poly details than in the concept. Other than that awesome work! I'm really glad to see you around!
BradMyers82: thanks! yes I always fight with that. It's still a fear in my head that thing will want to change something. I have like idea a.d.d. when it comes to my own stuff, I always think of something I feel is cooler or something. I just wish there was a easy way in zbrush to take or add geo without having to reimport and project, OR i could just have a little bit better foresight. with 2d its just a matter of a quick erase and redraw like a couple lines. either way i should stop being a baby and go crazier with my models. thanks for the head up.
Awesome work as usual man. I remember seeing your stuff over at the old tweakcg board back in the day. You've definitely made some improvements all around...keep it up holmeZ! And btw, your avatar makes me feel tingly inside...=)
flaagan: thanks for the heads up! I actually have all them drawings in my sketchbooks : ]
LoTekK: thanks so much!
Flaringo: thanks!
Dado Almeida: thanks! yea I need to step up my 3D game.
NyneDown: thanks! yea i changed my avatar to something way sexier. And what ever happened to tweak, just gone huh.
This is the final sculpt of my version of a Mask Rider / Predator thing. That is a sculpt of the actual me in his hands. I would like to think this is a piece that shows who i really am inside, an insect person thing but with a heart of silver : : ]
hey there MR.Skullface, Awesome works esp the sculpt of the predatorfaced bugman, very awesome! i really like the pose in the latest one as well. only crit on the poly paints ( and this from an amateur at best) i think it could use more variation in color, its very tan at the moment and with all the segments i see about a dozen places that a splash of contrast could really make pop. love the work tho and welcome to pcount! see ya around.
woogity: thanks for the crits. i so agree, i tried to get the predator color scheme on him but without all the gray armor and other things it does look boring. since zbrush lacks layers I am currently working on the the textures in ps. Thanks for the heads up : ]
Spatz: thanks! I hope to get better with my 3D, I still fight to add more style like my drawings, rather than more "realistic".
b1ll: thanks for the kind works. Im a super big fan of yours.
this is something I did for Star Trek Online here at Cryptic Studios. He's a Lethean for the bad guys in the game, I only did the sculpt but they made it look so cool with the textures and more detail, I don't have that on me but here is his head in the basic form : ] C&C welcome.

Seriously, incredible work, very inspirational for amateurs such as myself.
It's strange that I'm drawn to it what with all the 3D amazingness in your post, but I love the silhouette/concepts page for DW.
Just to let you know, I'm stealing all your images to go in my inspiration folder.
Also, I have a random question...
How do you get that subtle (insert word for effect in question) effect on your lineart, noticeable on your soldier 'Growl' ortho's on your DA page?
It looks like you've duplicated the lineart ayer and added a gaussian blur or something, it's so subtle but really makes the image pop.

Soft_Hands: thanks!
I should have my own head modeled that the mask rider dude will be holding. It's crazy to model your own face.
