I was wondering how some of you go about dealing with reflective material in models that probably won't be lit. Things like Leather or metal, I don't really understand how to make these things look like the materials they are since its so dependent on where the light comes from.

Here is kind of a WIP example of my own work trying to simulate the look of metal but it just looks like blobs.

Also take a look at the Quake3 character textures, id did an awesome job with those.
