Using photos to create models. Seems more geared toward arch/vis but could have applications in games? I'm not really sure how fast or easy it is to use. Demo movies are always "amazing" and never show the products Achilles heal.
So has anyone used it? It's free to people on subscription.
I saw something like this in 3D World once (years ago), but you needed a photo from EVERY angle of the object. It seemed to work awesome. I don't see why you couldn't use this in games. It would be a quick way to prototype buildings and environments.
Now I'll switch gears: I think with software like this, Autodesk is trying to kill modelers. YOU HAS NO JOB MEOW!!!11!
A guy I did some work for some time back used it on a couple of projects (see here: PLUG :P). Like DarthNater said, EVERY angle of the subject has to be put in for it to work well and accurately.
interesting.. I could dig it. but I dont think it'd get rid of modelers, I think it could be equated to Mo cap for animators - it can make your job easier but there will always be a need for someone to clean it up.
