Been working on this on and off for a while now (specifically since about 2 months) and I'm halfway through the exterior now, so I thought it might be worth to get some PC critcs for this..
The back is lacking a million little details, because I wanted to focus on the main parts first.
I'll probably make the chamfers a little less tight on the body so it'll bake more smoothly, but that's gonna be a quick fix later on..

Great modelling, looks very clean!
there. use your bleeding eyes for something, you missed the back by a mile.
He DID say that the back was missing a lot of deatil. I'd assume he was planning on fixing it up later.
I might change it to what the HMMWV in dejawolfs post looks like later on..

yes, there's a large amount of variation between the versions. theres soft tops, and lorries, and you have minor differences within a version.
the marine M1025 for example, has an extended air intake, to be able to ford up to the roof.
there's also optional parts that can be pulled off and fitted, like the front grille.
the version insulaner has chosen, is the hardtop M1025, he's got that much right at least.
the hardtop version usually is fitted with either a heavy machine gun, or a 40mm grenade launcher.
firing the M2HB:

another version the M966 has a TOW missile fitted to the roof, which can be swapped with the M2HB heavy machine gun. the launcher can also be taken off the vehicle, and dismounted, so that it can be deployed on a hilltop for example.
there's a ton of interesting things that can be done to the humvee, a lot of troops added "mad max" armour to their humvees. moms sent their sons money to buy steel, or they scavenged steel plates from destroyed iraqi tanks and armoured vehicles:
Worked on the back and added a bit of stuff to the front. Looked at several variations of that thing and kinda picked the things I liked. Also made some of the things a little bigger to make them more interesting/visible.
Sweet Model man
Hi, I'm using a modifier called EdgeChEx. This one chamfers the edges between smoothing groups and I can set up the width of the chamfer, so that the edges either get sharper or a little smoother.
An easy way to make edges more tight in general is by adding supporting edges like this..
I'm doing so many interiors at work right now, that I don't even want to do one, but I guess I'll have to, since cars with opaque windows just aren't right..
also the attachment point for the pulling hooks is of a different shape. the attachments for the rings actually jut out a lot more, and they are on the edges of the plate. also, its too rounded, it should have sharp corners.
Given the amount of hp a HMMWV has I think it's not even possible to install a supercharger, but oh well..
lol I love it. Nice, clean modelling.
