Hey guys, my name Raul Aparicio. Ive been working as a 3d artist around the Dallas area for the past 2 years. And i decided to start a new sketchbook here over at polycount, since i figured this would be the best place to post my game art.
To view some of my previous personal work, please visit my blog over at
I went through and added the second pass the granade textures.
The only 2 things that are bothering me about the grenade is that im using an alpha plane to do the ring, but then i have a cylinder on the back of the place to give it thickness, but it didn't work as i thought i was going to work..lol...i might just take it out.
The other thing is that i think my specular and the diffuse kinda moved away too much from the reference.
Wow great textures on the helmet. Looking at the reference pictures for the gun, the two pieces on the side seem to be closer to the reef with the N, and the crown is sitting on the reef. Might be a design choice, but either way, looking good.
Thanx guys, im trying not to use zbrush for this, and do it all "by hand" i guess you could say. Half of the way was trying to figure out how to do a lot of things. I might go back and redo some of the leaves and stuff as i dont think they look that good.
And damn it! i wish there were more high res pics. lol!
Here is some more progress on this. I was unable to work on this on monday. And didnt really work on it too much on tuesday. So far ive been more than 20 hours into this high poly. In some of the places i know things look blooby and even off from the reference. So any CC and suggestions would be totally awesome! Thanx.
By the way, if anyone is wondering, i modeled each piece in the center, i then cloned it and position where it needs to go. Didnt want to deal with bs transforms or crap. lol
I think this is problably my favorite piece so far. It was also kinda of difficult to come acrross.
I will be doing new renders as i rendered the wrong wiresframes. I wanted to render the control mesh wires not the final high res wires.
Well, also, i started on another prop.
The cushions still need detailing in zbrush. Any sugestions for that? should i model the shapes of the holes in my modeling? or should i just go to zbrush and take care of that and bring the decimated mesh back?
nice man! Love the gun! and this barbers chair is going good. I know its still a WIP, so keep working. After doing the gun...i think you got a level up

Speechless.. Amazing.
Gets speech back: Did I get you right about the detailing of that kickass gun; after modeling each detail in the center and positioning it, you used deformers (sorry about the maya language polluting you) to form them after the barrels?
